I was correct, 1.5-3 yrs ... and YEA, I do know locals who raise cattle (quite a few) .. it is 1.5 to 3 yrs, most are taken younger and 3 yrs is generally the upper limit because of disease or texture of meat wanted ......

Curious are Brahma still the preferred beef cattle in Florida? Decades ago when I lived just south of Orlando it was the only cattle we ever saw.

    I'll ask again

We know and Trump administration knows we are short on supply of beef. Our largest importer of Beef is Brazil, does it make good economic policy to put a 50% tariff on said beef and raised prices even more?

Why do you keep saying Brazil is the largest importer of beef to the US? The two countries that import the most beef into the US are Canada and Mexico. After them, it’s Australia and then Brazil.

Yes, Brazil is still a significant importer of beef to the US.

I don’t keep up on current events, but I would have to ask the question “What has Brazil done or what is Brazil doing that would cause the President to enact tariffs on their imports?”

I’m quite sure he didn’t throw a dart at a world map and say “That’s the one.”

He must have had a good reason.

Because we can get beef at a good price from Canada and Mexico because of exchange rate. We do not need beef from Brazil if they won't play ball. I should put an * about my opinion because I don't give a damn about the price of beef, pork, and chicken because I don't buy meat at the grocery store. All I do know is my Son in law and daughter beef operation is doing very well. They raised veal, then they bred beef cattle. They took out the pasture and feed lot because of less injuries and danger, no more opening gates. They feed lot and rotate they buy older calves and finish them, herd rotated every 4 months. They do not own a single head of cattle for more than 12 months, they decide to go to market based on weight.

Other than the occasional steak on date night, haven't bought beef in years, this has no effect on me. :nana:

I raise beef. If you want lower beef prices then you pay at the store, talk to a local farmer and buy a quarter or a half. We sell custom beef and it by far beats the store price. Why should other countries not pay a tariff when they charge us. It makes no sense.
