just watched the SpaceX launch for the 'rescue' to the space station ... been a bit since Ive watched a launch, they are so common now... what caught me was the landing of the launch body as it came back down and made a perfect vertical landing back on the pad ... didnt Buck Rodgers do that over 60 yrs ago .. Go Go Musk ...

Yeah, we had a 59mph gust about 4 hours ago, been 40's and low 50's since.

Heed those warnings, low level jet is kicking in and storms are spinning producing large tornadoes.

A link if you want to follow live as they get closer

    Thanks for thinking about me.

We have no power and we’re okay, but a lot of people within a 30 mile radius probably aren’t.

An EF 4 supposedly hit Van Buren, MO. That’s 15 miles from us and it’s where I hunt public ground.

There have been quite a few tornadoes tonight.

Glad you and yours are good, hope those surrounding you fair better than you suspect. Violent weather night for southeastern MO tonight.

Might be another event early to mid next week around here.

Thanks to cls, I watched a lot of that storm system last night. I believe multiple tornadoes hit that area. Unreal. It is quiet as a mouse here this morning.

My wife and I drove out yesterday to get some bottled water. While we were out we drove west to Van Buren. The town is okay and so is the area I hunt.

A little farther west we saw the damage from that twister and it was devastating to the area around the small town of Freemont, MO. We
Didn’t drive any farther west to see if the town itself was hit. There were too many emergency crews working and I didn’t want to get in their way.

Poplar Bluff, MO, which is where we do our shopping, was hit by two different tornados and they did a lot of damage. I know there were fatalities but I have no idea how many.

We are still without power but we’re okay for now. I have two small Yamaha 2000 watt inverter generators. In this situation I would normally rig them in tandem so we could run an air conditioner or a microwave, but my neighbor didn’t have a generator so I loaned him one to keep their food from spoiling.

One of them will keep a fridge and freezer running and let you plug in a couple of lamps.

Our only pressing concern is how to get water for the horses. They still have enough in their 100 gallon trough for a day or two, but we have a well and without power we have no water.

We have a second 100 gallon trough and we are probably going to load it in the back of the truck, go to a friend’s house that has city water or power, fill it up, cover it and haul it home. Where I park the truck is higher up in the hill than the water trough so I’ll be able to siphon the water from one trough to the other.

As far as showers go, luckily my travel trailer is full of water and we can shower in it.

I also told my neighbor that if they got desperate for a shower to come use it also.

Glad you are safe, maybe something to look into for the well is a solar power pump. We have one for our well, despite having city water wich was run after the house was built.

Regardless of reasons I see storms becoming worse, and want to be prepared.

Our next home we retire in will be able to run totally off grid if needed.

I don’t know if you have water delivery or not, we used to have a tank on our farm we would fill up at the city water plant for water for us.
