Well at least someone's going to make money Bloomberg "Earnings momentum is shifting away from the US and toward Europe and parts of Asia." " Gloomy economic readings and uncertainty regarding US policy has weighed on estimate sentiment, said Gaurav Mallik, Pallas Capital Advisors’ chief investment officer. "US companies face significant risks from a major drop in government spending, and the Federal Reserve has indicated it’s not rushing to cut rates, said Kristina Hooper, Invesco’s chief global market strategist. Europe’s economy, meanwhile, surprised on the upside by eking out modest growth in the final quarter of 2024. The European Central Bank is more likely to cut rates this year to stimulate growth. And gaps left by a drop in US defense spending will be plugged by Europe, Hooper said." Well if your big three automakers CEO's have to call the President and state "Hey you're going to kill our sales" The president is more than likely and idiot. No worries Sota I know you're good.
U.S. employers announced 172,017 layoffs for February, up 245% from January and the highest monthly count since July 2020, Challenger, Gray & Christmas reported. wl704 still think we are not headed for a recession?
Come on, you know better. It’s a data point which has been fairly soft the past year. Both, the economic wonks I was listening to yesterday had a consensus of <25%, most around 15% chance; and the beige book (from 38% economic softness to 35%) reflect different economic outlook. I suspect there are three things at work: 1) administration changes (long held belief by many the prior admin was ‘cooking the books’ so to speak) 2) uncertainty from current admin policy (tariffs, political assertions, ideological changes, govt employee impacts, etc) 3) current admin pushing the big ticket news to the forefront for Q1, so Q2 looks better…
My issue is the C-Suite I know how they will react, once they see softness their first move will be layoffs(Not Sota). Then consumers will tighten up and now we are rolling down hill. It's all a confidence game and when there is uncertainly as we have today, business can't plan, they stop hiring and stop/cut investing. I follow the Prof below https://www.youtube.com/@EconChrisClarke/videos
the dems caused trouble again during and after the censure vote against Green .... I love to see these dems floundering and flailing around ... let them show who/what they really are .... they cant see the majority of this country cant stand their crap ...
172,017 - 64000 = 108017 Remove the necessary government downsizing numbers, how does that compare to the previous quarter, year, 4 years under Biden?
Don't really care, as Biden is on permeant vacation, Trump is the man now. Federal layoffs don't bother me a bit, how they are being handled does, but that's to be expected when we have a leader of Trumps quality. Examples Imposing Tariffs, no wait not for the big 3 automakers Fire employees who did not account for their time last week, no wait here's another memo follow this one Hey were going to sell 443 government buildings, no wait we are not now 180 terminated employees at the CDC you have a duty to report back to work now that we know we messed up. The above just non-sense, if you had a CEO who layoff a department and then two days later said, wait come back I messed up. he would be fired before the end of day by the board. What is happening right now is just bad leadership by Trump, he did not inherit a mess on the economy side. For immigration he did inherit a mess, and I give him an "A" for his work. I agree with spending cuts, I do not agree with any tax cuts until we get spending under control. Cut spending and get the budget balanced. Falling prices for us day 1, did not happen and prices are going up Lower interest rates, stagnate at this point Faster economic growth, we appear to be going backwards Reducing inflation, it's up also. As for Ukraine I give him top marks, he's trying to do the right thing, and I don't believe he's Putins boy, I believe he can get the deal done if he can make Putin believe he got the better deal and that's the approach he is taking.
For the last 8 years all you did was cry about Trump and blame everything you could on him. Never once calling out the atrocities of the Biden admin. Now within days of him getting in you expect him to fix all the issues YOU Liberals made. I know you won't read this Germ but I hope some how you get heartburn and accidentally **** your pants Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
Germ tends to have a single issue/topic agenda. He'll hit it so long as he has the chance to remain right, when that chance ends he forgets about it and chooses the next hot topic. Rinse and repeat. Someone needs to remind him Trump has only been back in office for 46 days. He still has 1,414 days to keep promises. Germ likes to cite campaign speech statements stating changes from day 1, disregarding the reality of not only congressional opposition pushback but judicial as well.
Which Green? Only one stood in protest during the presidential address. Can you guess which one it was?
MTG violated decorum as well....but for some strange reason was not called out. Did you watch? And link us up with this impeachment claim you make. I'll make popcorn.
