The move downward is expected to continue into the winter months.

“I expect that gasoline prices will continue to fall another $0.05 to $0.10 over the next week," Andy Lipow, president of Lipow Oil Associates, told Yahoo Finance.

"Seasonally, demand is falling at the same time that refiners are returning from maintenance and boosting supply,” he said, referring to refineries that were temporarily offline for maintenance work, unable to produce gasoline.

As oil prices move, so will gas prices because oil costs account for about 50% of what we pay at the pump" said AAA's Gross.

They [gas prices] will start to rise again with the return of summer blend gas as well as longer days and better weather, which encourages people to hit the road," he added.

It’s called economics for a reason.

Okay so it's about supply and demand and has nothing to do with politics, thanks that's my point.

Yes we can agree, but the only thing political is unnecessary inflation connected to bad energy and other policies.

We need to maximize oil refining and gas exports and create policies that reduce our dependencies on it over time when alternative energies are sustainable like nuclear. It benefits the poorest in our nation and has a great potential to achieve cleaner air in the very near future.

Cold turkey energy policies only make the poor and learning class (college and trades) and their demographics more poor for their necessities in light of their trade-offs for getting to work and other necessary family activities. This is false inductive policy theory where the evidence did not exist to support it. It therefore is inherently for political purposes only.

Well with any luck he can get it back down to where it was BEFORE he took office. Which I doubt. They think that will force everyone out to buy $70000 electric cars.

Nuclear is dead and it's dead because no one wants the waste stored near where they live, do you want the waste stored in your county? If your answer is the same as mine, which is no. How can anyone promote an energy source they won't have in their backyard? I feel the same way about wind/solar, if you are not willing to have a wind farm or solar farm near you, don't promote it.

How much in megawatts as the US add in alternative energy? See below, now do we go cold turkey, well no, but we do keep chipping away and see what works the best. I will never get the absolutes we now have, it's either the "right" or the "left" way.

Just keep chipping away at it and here's a little secret the energy companies will be working towards more renewables. Remember when Trump took "us" out of the Paris Agreement and all the conservatives cheered, well guess who stayed in them, all the energy companies.

I'll never get the Left vs Right, never will. By the time electric cars are the norm if that ever happens most here will be dead. I have a feeling Toyota has a better plan than anyone, have you seen their Ammonia engine pretty neat stuff. I like electric cars I think they are pretty neat, and I think we can use them for certain businesses today.

Thanks for your insight, I think we agree more than disagree

My son is a teacher in Perry, Iowa. There is a school shooting there this morning. He and his students are safe and still locked in a closet. Sounds like multiple victims and the shooter is likely already dead. My heart hurts.

We will not agree on how to solve this, but I sure hope we can all agree that something has to be done. If we can go to great lengths to protect our cash in the bank, we can surely do more to protect an even more valuable asset.

Pray for these children and the families that will be living their worst nightmare today. For some, the nightmare will never go away.

It hurts when it's your kid involved, I have experienced it.

Fletch my heart goes out to you, I remember sitting in my house listening to the police scanner that night. If you have not experienced it, it's gut-wrenching because you can't do a damn thing.

Sorry to hear it @fletch920. I am glad your son and his students are safe. Every school should have an armed law enforcement officer on duty, perhaps more than one. It disgusts me that our government spends billions on other nations, but won't allow the protection of our children by law enforcement.
