Treatment or evaluation and hospitalization or whatever that individual might need. But, we don't have that package in place and fail our society because of it. Giving them a sticker that says "I can't buy a gun" will do nothing. Felons can't buy guns. I literally had the wife of one show up to a conceal carry class I was in and the only reason they failed her is because she lives with a felon. She was dumb enough to admit that they have lots of guns in the house and threw a fit. If crazy wants to kill, crazy will kill and labeling someone crazy will not stop gun deaths. Getting that individual the help they need could in fact save their own life and the lives of others. Gun laws don't work, end of story.
He was charged with a felony…he plead guilty to a lessor charge and prohibited to own a firearm. And he was such a model, they extended his probation… But ok…I’m sure someone with no regard for the law, would be an upstanding citizen buying from a retail buyer, not lie about who he is, his mental state and magically abide by whatever new regulations…

He did not have to lie, he just walk in and bought them legally, because he was NOT convicted of a felony.

It will be interesting to know one way or the other. I could be wrong, but I would guess that Lansing cops are too overworked, underpaid, and under trained to report to a non emergency call such as that. At least not in any sense of a timely response time. Many departments, including a few I know if in Michigan, are not reporting to non-emergency calls anymore (whether official policy or not.) 'Not enough resources'; which usually means human capital and/or fuel costs. Defunding the Police has a price. Side bar; I really want to know what the note they found in his pocket said...they are being very tight lipped about that; other than saying it 'may indicate a possible motive'. Very puzzling....very puzzling. Second side bar - doesn't MI have Constitutional open carry but licensed-only concealed? So it would seem that his 'felony' gun possession charge was fairly petty and likely why he was offered an easy plea deal. Liberal Michigan prosecutors don't want that case going all the way to the (state) Supreme Court and possibly opening to door for statewide Constitutional carry regardless if open or concealed.
