IL Dems have introduced a bill to eliminate self service at gas stations. No clue how much support it has amongst all Dems or the Fat @#!& Governor, but for a state sinking and losing residents by the thousands they sure aren't being resident friendly. Synopsis As Introduced Creates the Gas Station Attendant Act. Provides that no gas may be pumped at a gas station in this State unless it is pumped by a gas station attendant employed at the gas station. Effective January 1, 2021.
You're quote posting needs some work lol. Noy sure what you are asking exactly but my take is this. If passed into law it would require everyone to sit in their car to get gas. In irder for this to happen, especially those stations that have 8-16 pumps or more, would have to have more employees on hand at all times. Supply and demand, you never know when the demand is going to happen. IL just raised gas taxes, so if passed IL gas stations would have to raise gas prices in order to pay the additional employees. IL would therefore gain additional tax revenue from that gain. Then to double dip the state would also garner new income tax revenue generated by the addition of new employees to carry out the law. This years ballot will also have a progressive tax on it, and we all know how the non drivers in the populace that run this state will vote on that.
That "law" is obnoxious. I always forget when I drive through NJ and they act like I'm a threat to the human race and could never be qualified to pump my own gas. Then I always feel like I need to tip this ppl and for what???
Exactly, first amendment filed to kill this bill should be to make the attendants tipped wage employees just like servers at restaraunts. They should also be required to go in and get whatever other items you are needing, check the inflation on your tires, check and fill your lubricants and fluids, clean your windows and mirrors and if asked verify all lights and signals are working.
The wife and I have been thinking about where to retire. IL never was under consideration, due to the poor working environment, taxes, unmet state liabilities, liberal hot mess,and mass exodus from the state. But gas attendents, , well that's gonna change everything.
I believe either Washington or Oregon is like that just about had a situation when they grabbed the pump handle.
