Since we have a panel full of political aficionado's here, I'm looking for a little change in pace as to where I get information regarding policies, candidates, etc. For those of you who are truly "middle of the road," what sources (preferably online) seem to have the most unbiased information/reporting?
This is a good place for straight un-biased news. Even the opinions on the opinion page are mixed. http://www.reuters.com/ This is another good site for unbiased news and has articles that are more indepth than most. I subscribe so I get a little more than visitors. I would recommend a subscription. http://www.economist.com/ If you have a kindle then there is a kindle mag that is called "Opinionated" and it carries 3 viewpoints, Liberal, Conservative and Independent. Very good kindle mag. There is another kindle mag called "Commentary" which is more conservative leaning but very good none the less. This is a good Libertarian periodical: http://reason.com/ This is another good source but probably slanted left: http://truth-out.org/ I have a bunch more but that should get you started LOL
There is if you look for it. Most don't. They just look for something that says what they want to hear. Another reason politics is so polarized in this country. No one wants to challenge their beliefs by reading other sources that may support a different belief. An article can be completely unbiased but, if it doesn't support your (anyone) particular beliefs, then you will find it "biased".
As a moderate stuck right in the middle and watching both parties with great interest I agree that there are unbiased sources but in most cases the bias seems well couched and/or the writings and ideas are very parochial.
Instead of depending on some site to tell me what is the truth, I listen to what is being said, I check out what is being said to see if it is true, and then I decide whether or not what is being said should carry any weight in my opinion. Basically, separating the wheat from the chaff.
I tend to hang out in the world stage more.. I find that these medias have less bias towards a party.. or even a country at times. Here's a great article I read months ago on voter ID's from the Independent (a British media outlet). I'm only bringing this up because here in our country.. theres so much smoke and mirrors about this story. An obvious ploy to keep voters from looking at the true counterfeits. http://www.independent.co.uk/opinio...ret-weapon-7944306.html?origin=internalSearch And another site I frequent.. http://therealnews.com/t2/ I do pay closer attention to authors typically more than American media channels. (The Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post have a few really great ones.) I do think Reuters (as Bruce mentioned) have some very good ones too. It's important to know the author first and foremost.. I tend to read articles and blogs written by history professionals more than any other.. because they can tell you where things are going because they already know where things have been. I will tell you.. if you believe just about anything Rancid reads.. you should go back to school. One more thing.. its not even that American media doesn't report everything in a biased way.. its that you have to really dig through all the layers of filth just to get there.. they purposely bury it behind countless tales of 'Jersey Shore' happenings.
What are you talking about Fletch? He's the final authority on anything political or historical! Just ask him, he'll tell ya.
Is it normal for pro staff moderators to make such ignorant comments about members?? Is making a fool of yourself requisite for the position???
Uh-O Mike...he's going to start sending you hate PM's........I've gotten them from him on another site, it was pretty ridiculous!
