We have a 25 acre woods set aside for this during the season for family/friends. During season our youngest are now teens and they use judos while bowhunting. The other 9 months we legally hunt tree carp/yotes/trap on all of it. We already have 4 non family that have hunted with us for decades.

Only a handful on tv actually make a living. Many have mortgaged houses to make it big. Supply and demand. 2 outdoor channels 24/7. One show wants $25k for brand x as a 2nd level sponsor, enter newb who will give the slot away to build a name. look at all the shows that were cancelled? I enjoyed the young guy in the winnebago "gunnin it with"? Gone. You also have to take out those who are burning their own fortune from music, baseball, or married a bh queen. Or shows paid for by a mega gun/bow brand.

Wisconsin is fully aware of the access issue. They have multiple programs like open MFL that drop property taxes $30/acre for public access. They just announced yesterday a spring turkey access pay program for private landowners.

    agree totally

I enjoy big bucks, but I dont' hold out, I shoot a lot of doe, my son shoots whatever he feels like, I don't go crazy about it.

sure they are cool but I agree it is the number one thing "non"s" do not like about hunting, the trophy aspect of it.

In Utah, you can't even buy an archery permit if you have a felony conviction. Just thought I'd throw that out there. ;)

I disagree with that law. All felony convictions are definitely not equal.

I don't agree with the law either. I have an issue with people losing their rights forever. If they've done their time, been out of trouble, why not restore their rights? If we think they're too dangerous to have a gun, shouldn't they still be in jail? ;)

Back in IL a felon isn't even allowed to own a bb gun that shoots over 750 fps but they can bowhunt. But I digress.....

Preach on my friend...lol. I agree. I have been bow hunting for around 20 years...which isn't close to as long as you have. I started around 93 if I remember correctly. Anyway, I agree with you my friend. I guess I'm not a trophy hunter either....actually not even close. I own 101 acres where I live and hunt. The only people that hunt is myself and my friend. My neighbor from a mile down the road came over two years ago and ask me if he could bring his grandson hunting on Juvenile hunt? I said, yes sir, no problem. He said, I hated to ask but, I've been trying to find a place but can't afford to get on a lease that costs $800 for a year to hunt for the 3 day hunt. Kinda sad really. The best part is...he grandson killed a nice 11 point. Not a monster by any means...but a nice TN buck. I helped them get it out and the happiness that kid had was unreal. Sorry for ranting....lol

In Colorado and many other states that law also covers bowhunting and muzzleloading.

Poaching was going on long before hunting shows, internet, minerals craze, trail camera craze and the horn porn craze. Bucks where getting poached back in the 70's for their racks here. Nothing new here... even that a cop was involved for that matter. Some of the cops and deputy sheriffs were not afraid to break game laws back in the day. If anything... they are probably less prone to do it now days just because of trail cameras and the internet as it probably will cause others not to do it as well.

Back then before the internet... who knew what was poached in other states or even in other parts of your own state. Now days, information is just a click away. You are going to hear more about poaching so to say poaching is worse then it was back in the old days... might be a farce.

Blame it on anything you want... the simple fact is you just hear more about now... just like everything else that is bad in this world. The masses seem to thrive on doom and gloom now days.
