Today the Des Moines Police shot and killed a mountain lion in the city of Des Moines about a block from my granddaughters' day care. The police are getting raked over the coals by a lot of locals that thought killing the cat was cruel. http://whotv.com/2012/10/04/mountain-lion-big-cat-shot-by-des-moines-police/
on one of the other stations webpage the comment that got me most was "They should have tranquilized it and then just released it outside of town."
Shoot them, you do not want an established breeding population of them. I am getting sick of finding lion kills almost every time im out in the woods.
All I meant was it does not take long to go from "we may have a few in the region" to " we have an overpopulation problem" Barely 10 years ago our GFP hardly admitted we had any Mt. Lions and this year there is a quota of 100 and open season year round outside of the Black Hills. Do not get me wrong, I enjoy seeing them from time to time but I'm seeing them all too often.
