I have notice that when I aim at a target with dots, I aim at a small dot and my grouping is very tight. However when I aim at my glendel decoy I am aiming at for a general area on the deer where the heart would be. I have noticed that I am not overly happy with where I am hitting. I am getting a kill shot according to the placement of the heart, lung, and liver placements, but if I do not see my first arrow, my grouping is not tight. I figure the reason my grouping is not tight is because I am not aiming for the exact point every time like I am at the dot on the target. Does anyone else notice this or have any suggestions to help with this?
Always, always, always, always, always....... aim small!! (have you heard the saying, "Aim small, miss small"?) Pick a spot. Pick a hair. Pick a gnat.... but aim small. When we shoot fish we say "pick a scale".
I hate that saying but it's from the Patriot - Mel Gibson. What do I win? Why even put the thought of "miss" in the equation. "Aim small, Kill big!"
What Christine said...this is a lesson that often takes time to learn for many beginner bowhunters. On a broadside deer...I aim for the top of the crease behind the shoulder
