Today's Day 16, isaiah.... Finishing out this week, and next one is Week 4 or recovery week. I need it, too; I've been bringing it as hard as I can, and with minimal carbs I'm starting to feel a bit weaker throughout the day. I'm about ready to go to phase II of he nutritional plan and up the complex carbs a bit, but I wouldn't mind holding out a little longer and shedding a bit more fat in phase I before I do so... 14 more days and I'll post my 30-day pics. It's exciting to think what I've accomplished even this early on, and I've got 74 more days to continue shedding fat and getting ripped!
hang in there! dont forget to look back on the road you come down so far... that is huge! plus as we get older its a lot harder=-) have you been short tempered/angry a lot with the lack of carbs???? i get that way. plus the weekend workouts are soooooooooooooo tough!
Thanks, isaiah! What's tough for me is that in my mind I'm still the athlete I used to be, playing five hours of tennis a day. I get a little perturbed that I can't go as hard as I used to... I have to remind myself that was 20 years ago! So far, I'm not getting overly aggravated on the low-carb thing, but I am a bit more tired throughout the day as I think I mentioned above... I purposely scheduled my start day so that all I've got is Kenpo on Saturdays (which I enjoy) and Sunday's a rest day/X stretch day -- though I'm altering that a bit: I'm doing a hard 15-minute Nordic Track workout to warm up my muscles before stretching them and to help burn even more goo. I'm not really having a hard time getting motivated on any day, and I'm even getting up at 5:50 a.m. every day -- which if you ask ANYONE who knows me... that just doesn't happen with me. I'm just really getting into this and ready to take my body back to where it was and then start pushing it way beyond... My wife and I have the start day for Round 2 scheduled in our calendars... Finish day for that one is October 10. I can't WAIT to see how much better I navigate around the deer woods hanging stands this season after two full rounds of P90X under my belt!
Greg ~ The G/F and I are thinking of giving this a try. How long are the workouts scheduled for, 1 hour? What Equipment do I need, can I cancel my gym membership? Are you seeing results?
i hear ya on cant do what i used to!!!!!! ha! i have done the kempo stuff a few times and i like it, you dont realize you are working abbs too until the next day/morning. you will deff see a diff hanging stands moving around the woods and your "wind" will be soooooo much better. pat yourself on the back again for sticking with it, most fall off like any other diet/exercise plan i've seen them try and the DVDs become coasters or dust collectors at the bottom of some entertainment center=-)
NC, yes.... P90X is the real deal. No infomercial here, just an average guy who admittedly has a pretty athletic backround... I too have spent plenty of time in the gym, and I'm seeing better results quicker with this. It's a heckuva lot cheaper than monthly gym dues, too. I did quite a bit of research on it before I plunked down the money, so I can direct you to some places to look... go to www.teambeachbody.com and go to the member forums section. There'll be a subforum for P90X there, as well as a P90X photo gallery. There's literally hundreds if not thousands of sucess stories that'll blow your mind on what people were able to accomplish in 90 days... When it gets to the people who've done successive rounds like I'm planning on doing as I mentioned in my last post, it becomes truly amazing. You'll need a pullup bar... you can either make one with some metal pipe from Home Depot if you've got the tiniest bit of mechanical aptitutde and exposed rafters where you'll be working out... or you can do like I did and go to Walmart and buy the Iron Gym pullup bar for $29... It fits in an ordinary door frame and uses your leverage to hold it in place. Nifty. You'll need a basic assortment of dumbbells, too; or you can order the exercise bands from the website or e-bay or some place similar... That's about it, really. You'll be AMAZED at how hard you can work out with such little equipment! I ouldn't believe I absolutely TOASTED my legs the first leg workout with only a pair of 20-lb. dumbells, and I only used those for one exercise!
what have been your sorest body parts so far Greg? :d Mine have been calves, everytime i do them they are sore for three days Keep at it !!!!
Thighs and glutes... Thank GOD Tony had the good sense to space plyo and leg day as far apart as he did! :d
