We have had an incredibly late spring here in NE Illinois. Plenty of nubs are starting to appear, I believe I counted about 5 different small bucks. This property averaged about 25-60 pics every 2 weeks last year, this cam check (almost 2 months) contained 875! I do not know what changed from this year to last, but it looks like they love grazing in this grass. This abandoned farmhouse and the 14 acres of bedding looks like it is really starting to hold some deer. I believe some MonsterRaxx is much needed!!
Ya that's for sure! This area is so small that when the frost hits and leave,s fall and plants die and get covered in snow, the deer seem to scatter to thick cover. Now last year was such a drought that the pond and ditch were dry, this year with such a late spring and one of the wettest springs on record the pond has a great amount of water in it. Camera to be posted near there soon. I hope this water source stays year round! Based on google earth it is 1 of 2 ponds for about a mile or 2 around.
This camera is the Moultrie M-100. Found the camera on sale at Gander Mtn. for like $120, has a viewing screen, food plot/vid/trail modes, the camera is no bigger then your hand, different zoom settings, and 6.0mp. I absolutely love this one.
Can't wait to start seeing some serious growth. This location is promising to knock down my first deer....
