Behold, 13.5 lbs of pure scent killer.
Cost me a whooping 6 bucks. This should last me awhile.

I have some hunting clothes to wash this weekend. Some of my clothes has been in a plastic bin since last year....clean, but still have just been sitting in a bin. Good idea Brad, gonna pick up some Baking Soda this weekend. It also works great on a toothbrush and as mouthwash following breakfast.

    Brett,

Why do you wash your hunting clothes this time of year? What advantage does it give to do it so early?

My stuff is in totes as well and usually bring it out 2-3 weeks before the season so it can thoroughly air dry.

With all the baking soda talk i'm going to have to run by wal mart on the way home.

So can you just dump it in the tote with your camo?
Then just before season you take it out, hang it up, and shake all the powder out you can?

    Also,
Will it have any affect on base layers (like under armour cold gear)

here is a recipe that works

Now that the season is near, I will again post the recipe I use for home made scent killer that works and is cheap to make!

    Ingredients for Scent Killer:

16 oz. (2 cups) Peroxide ( yes, I use the brown bottled stuff)

16 oz. (2 cups) Distilled Water or water from a dehumidifier

    ¼ cup baking soda

1 oz. On non-scented shampoo (I use Hunters Specialties green shampoo)
(Or adjust amounts to whatever size you make accordingly)

Let sit for several days (1 gallon milk jug works good with lid loose) This recipe is also good for removing blood from your hands in the field after dressing your critter! No dried blood, presents a better image!

Here an idea for some scent free 'baby wipes'...

mix up a batch of scent killer as per instructions above...

take a roll of heavy duty paper towels (Bounty, Scott, etc..not the 49 cent cheapies)

cut the roll in half with an electric knife so you have 2 short rolls of paper towels(don't try a regular knife... it doesn't work). Pull the cardboard tube from the middle of the half roll

Find a rubbermaid or tupperware container big enough to hold the 1/2 roll of paper towels (and with a good sealed lid).

Put one of the 1/2 rolls of paper in the container, pour in the scent killer, let the wipes soak up the scent killer, keep covered tight so they don't dry out. Because the inner cardboard tube is out, pull the paper towels out the from the middle like a kleenex!

Where do you guys find big bags of it like that? I usually get the biggest boxes I can get. A bag like that would last me years.

I've never seen this bag (or any other large ones) at Walmart but I got this bag at Costco.

Could have sworn I got it at Wally World, but maybe it was Sam's Club? They're right beside each other in my defense, and I usually hit both on the same shopping trip.

That, and it was a year ago... :D

Ditto. Same with their laundry detergent.
