Hey guys i just have some questions: 1. I just got a 45# Browning recurve from a friend, will that be good enough to hunt with and take down a whitetail? 2. I want to get some wooden arrows but dont want to spend to much money any suggestions? 3. Are glue on tips and broadhead better or are the glue on adapters better? I guess if you guys want to throw in anything else that will help me out go for it i need all the help i can get!! Thank a lot.
If you're getting full draw, full 45# you've got enough for a whitetail. I make my own and it cheapens the cost but don't scrimp too much on arrows. You gotta have good arrows. Guess it depends on what you're wanting to do. I've always used glue on points. Get a good cut on contact broad head and get it sharp. Find someone local who is experienced hunting with Trad. equipment to help you… it can shorten the learning curve.
I would not go with glue on adapters at least to start. There are a plethora of REALLY good glue on broadheads available. I love wood arrows and made and shot them for decades. I now use carbon. Although wood can be tough it will never be as tough as carbon. Wood arrows do bend and you should check them often. Carbon arrows are straight or broken but need to be checked too.
