hey yall, my name is Ivan. I am currently new to bow hunting. I have been interested for the past few years and met a guy that wanted to trade for a deer rifle that I haven't used for about 4 years. The bow I got is a Diamond Outlaw, I am addicted... I sadly have no idea what I am getting into but I don't see myself using a rifle ever again after I get where I am comfortable harvesting animals. So I went to Cabelas which Is the closest "pro shop" near me, about 60 miles away. They adjusted the draw weight and pull for me. I bought some Easton Full metal jackets, some rage hypodermic broad heads, and a quiver. now after sighting in the bow 10,20,30,40 yards I shot it nearly 100 times to get it exactly where I wanted it. I am ex military so I need everything to be exact. Anyway I noticed that the serving has started to separate and the peep sight turns way out almost 90 degrees. I am almost positive that I need new string. but what price ranges am I looking out. I was told 130 for new string and cables stretched and tuned. Is that normal? what do I need to ask them when doing this? and one more question, would it be better if I ordered it on line. please help. thanks Ivan
1st off welcome aboard Ivan! Congrats on getting your bow. I'm new to the passion myself. I've been hunting and fishing my whole life but only recently into bowhunting. I can't really answer your question but I can say your in the right place. There's a bunch of really knowledgeable Pro's here that can more than answer your questions. For me $130 is high but that's because I have a guy here in Miami that works out of his own shop at home and he charges me about $40 to do a job like that. You figure that you got to a brick and mortar like Cabelas and they have to charge higher to cover there expenses. Ask around the forum. Your answers are here. Seek and you will find. See you in the threads.
