"Disclaimer: 10+ year gun hunting experience, First year bow hunting" Let me take you on an adventure known as "The Mysterious Miss" It all started while I was laying down on a small hill, which I was using as cover against a well known deer trail. After approximately 3 hours of staring at the waving grass, I hear a noise. Assuming my poor hunting skills couldn't have actually placed me in a position to see a deer... I had just assumed it was another squirrel. Well, the noise had a pattern, and better yet "was coming right at me" (I hope you get the reference!). The pattern continued and the noise got louder and louder... it was approaching the woods end, where my secret hiding spot was located. I put myself in a position to take a clean shot, not yet drawing my bow yet because I hadn't made a visual contact with the deer. Before I knew it, there she was... staring at me. Giving a head twitch or two, she tried to figure me out and she just stared at me with those big doe eyes. I slowly moved to get my bow ready and when the deer put her head down, I came to a full draw. Now, before I made a visual of the deer, I literally kept telling myself "keep calm, breathe, go through what you've practiced over and over, and lets bring home some meat tonight". Well, there I was full draw, went through all of the checks before releasing the arrow. I put the correct beed on the doe and took a deep breath. I release the arrow with 100% confidence that I was going to make my family proud. As I watched the back of my arrow light up, I watch the arrow literally fly 10 feet behind the doe. Keep in mind that the deer was approximately 15 yards from me at the time of the shot. Completely confused, I went through everything and I finally realized what I did wrong.... any guesses?
Not sure what you did. But when you said laugh at your misfortune, I surely thought you were talking about being a Bears fan.
Lets say that shooting at a deer and shooting at a target is not the same Ive been there more then one time
I shoot guns lefty. I shoot my bow righty. When I lined up the deer, I had both eyes opened (as opposed to just having my right eye open). Needless to say, the deer lives and I'm an idiot.
Maybe the string hit your jacket. I have this happen to me when practicing and it normally sends my arrow way off target.
Im right handed.... shoot my bow consistently out to sixty yards with both eyes open. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
I believe he is saying he used his left eye instead of his right. Have a buddy who is right handed but is left eye dominate. He struggled shooting a bow because he was trying to use his left eye. We figured it out and he bought a left handed bow and improved his accuracy dramatically.
I am the same way...Im left handed but right eye dominate. I've always shot right handed since when i was little i could only close my left eye. One of my coworkers missed a buck earlier in the year because he wasnt looking through his peep.
