Ok I am free untill mid afternoon and the hunting is said to drop off at 1-2pm on Saturday and then be great in the late afternoon. But I can't go then. Dawn is at 6:43 and sun rise is at 7:13....this is all from my Time2hunt app. At 7am the wind will be about 6 mph from the southwest and the temp will be 30. It will rise to 45 and be partly sunny. The best time to hunt all day will be rated an 83 before sun-up and drop to 79 at 7, 55 at 8 and all the way down to 54 by 9. Late morning-early afternoon....11-1pm times are rated 59, 61 and 57....2pm is a 40 and I will be done by then. Wind will be 12-14 from the SW at that time. Thoughts? River-bottoms? Deep woods? Trees near fields? What about different locations for morning at noon?
Failed....saw nothing this am....well, two coyote...one across the river, the other I walked up on. No shots, one was to far and the other was with a climber on my back and the bow in a sling. Heading to a new spot!
well, the second round was better, but far from a success. Walked into the woods and saw a grey flash....confused, I stood there and on the second look, it was a Tom Turkey. He ran right at a herd of does. I stood still for a few minutes, then on my next step, I broke a stick under the leaves and two more turkey took flight. Well thay made a Redtale hawk screach and then ran the rest of the herd which included a few good bucks. The herd was between me and where I needed to go, so I made a very slow stroll to the tree. Along the way I chased up 3 more deer. Normally I would never do this, but the way the wind was blowing and the time of day, I figured I would just sit for a few hours and they would come back. 30 minutes and here they came, or so i thought. What came was a nice game of tag between a very young doe and a young 4 point buck. They ran a lap around me and off they went. At noon, I heard something and thought this is it.....nope! here came 3 young boys...right under me without even knowing. So I will try again next week.
