Getting ready to tell my boss to pound salt and take off a week for hunting this fall.. Question is should I take off November 7-11 or 14-18.. I was leaning towards the 14th - 18th because that's right after the full moon phase. But what do y'all think about the rut timing this year in Ohio?

You tell him to pound salt you may get more then a week off!! Personally I'd take 7-11, later you get more chance of bucks being locked down. Either way you'll be in a stand!

I personally like Halloween to about the 10th here in Wisconsin. I have been doing trail cameras the past 4 years now and going back and looking at mature buck pictures during October and November. I can honestly tell you, I will hunt longer on stand the days around Hallween this year. Typically what I found is that the bucks I got on cam seem to move more late morning when im already out of the woods..... go figure.

I second this for Wisconsin as well. Everything slows down shortly after first of November. better luck in late October.

I too would go with the 7-11 dates if I had to choose I would rather hunt the week before that though.

    I would decide November 5th or 6th.

I'll be hunting locally on Halloween and I 100% agree because I shot my buck two years ago late morning on Halloween

I always take off the first week of November. Got a buck 3 years ago on the 2nd and last year's buck died on the 1st...I also missed a nice 11 pointer on the 3rd 2 years ago.

I wouldn't necessarily say things slow down. The prime time days have always been November 1st-15th to be on stand as all hell can break loose during any one of those days.

I always try to be on stand on Halloween but I have never really seen any deer sightings. But after looking through pictures, the past 4 years most activity seems to be after I typically would be off stand already.

The past 2 years have been pretty slow as far as rut activity during the day for me. I think a lot of it has to do with the un-seasonably warm temps during November.

That's the week I take every year. Can't go wrong with those dates!
