Both of my bows have been restrung, available for pick up saturday at noon. My buddy calls me today and says he knows a high fence ranch that the owner wants eradicated of sheep by primitive means only........on saturday. Even if I could get the bows and drive 4 hours to the ranch, the new sights haven't even been remotely dialed in. I had to dig out the old recurve, and make a finger tab out of, wait for it....... my wife's backup purse. Now I have to relearn the bow tomorrow. If it doesn't like the carbon arrows I have, I'm heading out with my samburu spear. How many back up plans do you guys have? Hopefully some better than a dusty stick bow and a spear...
Doubt I would've thought of it, I'd have taken both bows to be restrung at the same time just as you did. I sure won't ever do that after reading your post though. I have several friends that shoot bows, so I would commandeer one of their back ups long before I'd try traditional or a spear. I haven't shot a recurve, or instinctively, since I was about 12 years old. No way I would be proficient again in only a few days. Interesting dilemma you find yourself in. I'd call every acquaintance I could think of to try to come up with a compound bow.
I have a Mathews Vertix as my primary bow and my Halon 6 is my backup bow. Share some pics of what you kill. Good Shooting!
I don't know how many miles I put on just trying to get a good chance at one. It was a hunt let me tell you. Made bow hunting feel like rifle hunting!
