How many people died from those breeds? One? Two? Would you rather be shot by a BB gun or a canon? Its not about what breed is aggressive, its about what breed can and does kill people. But, that is pretty hard to argue against, so the pit defenders deflect from the true point of the debate.

Yea I used to think you were one who could see facts and reason. Turns out you're just like the others.
Yea let's take 50x steps to cross a fence. You can go ahead and follow what they say, but simple logic can help you cut down the # of steps required. Oh right, one instructor told me he saw a shotgun go off due to static electricity. I should really listen to them

Anyone ever thought about the other side of the fence?

What if a kid went up to your yard and saw a brand new IPOD on the other side of the fence, Then jumped the fence so he could get it and run off with it! But, before he gets to the fence your "Pit" grabs his leg and throws him to the ground....Now what? You know the person could easily turn the tables and say the dog attacked him for no reason right? this scenario could account for 20% of attacks in the U.S. and no one would know!

I think when these guys are referring to "licensing" they actually mean "permitting."
Most municipalities (at least east of the Mississippi) have ordinances on the books pertaining to dog registration/licensing; but it's nothing more than a way to keep rabies down and make some money for the township coffers. It's not like there's a competency test or anything, which is what I'm understanding these guys to want.

Wow. Humans have free will and you want to compare a race of humans to dogs and guns. You should bow out.

And I thought you could leave emotions out of it, but you can't because you're attached to your dog. Turns out, you're just like the rest of them.

I have a friend who has pitball and the dog is great. Very nice and friendly. Sleeps in bed with them everynight. I'll pet it and scratch its ears and say good boy. Would I own one or want my kids alone with one? Hell no.

African cats are not canines. Fact. Pit bulls can and do kill people. Fact. The reason, because they can.

I used to think that you normally miss the big picture. Now I'm pretty sure I know the reason.

I believe this is mostly true but the thing is that if somebody doesn't train their black lab the right way that lab isn't going to go kill another dog, or bite or kill a child or bite anyone else. I agree that a lot of people that own pit bulls get them for the tough guy look and put no effort into training them and often end up abandoning them. But its in a pit bulls blood to be one of the most aggressive dogs in the world, its just how they were bred. I don't think they should be eliminated but maybe it should be harder for some of these people to get one. I've seen little ghetto gangster 16 year olds walking a pit bull and I was just waiting for that thing to just run off.

If I want a pit bull to protect my family and use as a pet and it is legal for me to own then why do you care?

If I want .223 to protect my family and it is legal for me to own then why do you care?

Do you want someone telling you what you can and can not own?

Do you not think the same type of people could turn labs and other dogs into aggressive dogs? Do you not think the same type of people would murder with a .223?

It's a people thing, not a .223 or dog thing?

There's a lab in our neighborhood that is the meanest dog I've ever seen or met. I have zero doubts he would kill another dog or kid. His owners are nice people and haven't trained him to be that way, he's been that way since he was a pup. I also have a purebred Doberman and the lab has tried to come into our yard and attack him.

Again, guns are an inanimate object only controlled by the shooter. Dogs have their own brains and can think for themselves. I don't know how anyone can logically compare the two and think it's a valid comparison.

With this logic your comparison of dogs vs humans is not valid. Both have functioning brains and personalities.

FTR, I've owned labs and if they ever showed any aggression towards a person, I would take it out back and personally put it down myself. Likewise, if a dog comes into my yard and shows aggression towards myself or my kids, regardless of breed, it's getting a bullet put into it.

Never thought I would hear such liberal BS in my life. Pure ignorance. Cattle kill more people yearly, so lets ban the raising of beef or dairy cattle. People dont understand that man biters were virtually eliminated from the gene pool early in the days of the fighting ring. Any dog that bit a handler or medic was put down. Now, times and breeding standards have changed and I would never own a pitbull from a backyard breeder, rescue center, etc. My dog comes from a line that is 70 years old. Contains 163 GC and purple ribbon dogs. Has been socialized from day one. Has walked through the mall with me with thousands of people present. Will he ever bite a human? NOPE, he will never be given the oportunity to regardless of his personality. I am a responsible pitbull owner. My dog is muzzled when around strangers. Not for their safety, but for hers. That way no one can claim my dog did anything. She has never even groweled at a stranger. Two years ago my house was broken into, my pitbull was loose in the house. I came home to find her sitting on the living room floor with a huge bone they brought.

On the other hand, I would consider letting her take a nip at dan, sachiko, and a few other on this thread. Just for the satisfaction

Who said I was comparing dogs to humans? If you think that, then you haven't read the whole thread and my comments to Chopayne.
