I'm a live, and leave me alone sorta guy. There is no such thing as placing blame, there is how ever responsibility, you can be responsible, or you can take responsibility, I would much rather see people be responsible.
Pits are definitely equipped with the best "tools" for inflicting damage and/or death, but to believe the breed itself is vicious is just asinine. My oldest daughter (age 2 in this pic) with her best friend, Lux Lucis. I researched the blood-line and chose carefully from the litter. The result: the most loyal, intelligent, obedient and well-mannered dog I've ever owned.... and the most well protected little girl in the entire neighborhood
When you purchased him was he advertised as a "pit-bull"? or what breed is he since Pit-bull isn't a breed. I know American Staffordshire Terriers are considered in the pit-bull class, but Lux's legs look shorter. I was just wondering. Beautiful dog.
Would you say she is the best protected girl in the neighborhood if you had a standard poodle? Seems like for every apologist there are subtle admissions of potential for ferocity. its a weird dynamic of, "hey I have this potential dangerous animal under control". I find it weird that Pit apologist can't just admit the breed was/is breed for its ferocious tendencies. I'm not saying you can't own one. Hell Roy from Siegfired and Roy trained and entertained with lions and tigers for decades without incidents. Then one day a single tiger attacked him. nobody was surprised. The Scorpion and the Frog "A scorpion asks a frog to carry him over a river. The frog is afraid of being stung during the trip, but the scorpion argues that if it stung the frog, both would sink and the scorpion would drown. The frog agrees and begins carrying the scorpion, but midway across the river the scorpion does indeed sting the frog, dooming them both. When asked why, the scorpion points out that this is its nature. The fable is used to illustrate the position that no change can be made in the behaviour of the fundamentally vicious." The End
It can be in any dogs nature to be ferocious. Not just pit bulls. Dogs are a reflection of their owners. They can be retrained though. A lot of the pits from the Micheal Vic case were rehabilitated. A lot of those dogs were adopted. One of his best fighters goes nursing homes and visits elderly people. It's not the dog, it's how they are raised. Sent from my KFTHWI using Tapatalk
A dog is only as smart as its owner, in this case a lot of pit bull owners are pretty stupid from what I've seen and heard. I can't really blame the dog because of the idiots out there that have bread them to be that way. I would never have one, can't stand the things. Half the time pit bulls are bread because of idiots out there that want to make a few extra bucks and not have to get a job. So they just bread some pitbulls and then start beating them to royal piss them off everyday. So along comes idiot gang member/drug dealer/ other low life and sees that the dog is completely nuts and says bingo thats exactly what i want to protect my assortment of illegal guns and drugs that I've bought with my welfare and government checks. Im sure that there are good pit bull owners out there but I've never met one.
Be warned... if you own any dog listed on the dangerous breed list... you stand the risk of having a nice law suit handed to you. Nothing even has to happen... all someone has to do is claim injury caused by your dog when you weren't home... You can't prove otherwise... No way I'll ever own another such animal. Sounds ridiculous but I promise... it happens... I've got the t-shirt.
Thanks, Cablebob. The breeder was a friend of friends and called them American Pitbull Terriers. Lux was the 3rd Pit I've owned. All were short, stocky and musclebound, but very sleek. My mother currently owns an "American Staffordshire Terrier". She shares the same behavioral characteristics of every Pit I've owned. She's taller and leaner.... not quite as muscular and her ears aren't cropped, but a Pit nonetheless.
I wouldn't know about poodles, nc. Nor do I give much consideration to Vegas magic acts and ownership/domestication of tigers and lions and bears (Oh my!). But I do know a few things about Pits, Rotts, Dobes, Labs and German Shepherds.... I've owned each, without a single "aggressive incident". Also, I've never been one to put much stock into fables and fairy tales. My lifestyle dictates I invest all my chips in reality.. and that pic I posted IS the reality. To each his own, though.
This is a pretty common misconseption. Only the akc generalizes "pitbull" type dogs. Within all other reg clubs, ukc, adba etc the pittbull is considered a true breed. They seperate by american pitbull terrier and staffordshire terrier. This is why you will notice that all those fat block headed Bullys are registered under the akc. Because they arent true working pitbulls, in reality they are mixed breed mutts
All dogs are mutts. When they started breeding to create certain dogs. They bred one dog with another type of dog to get this type of dog. Sent from my KFTHWI using Tapatalk
