So my wife and I have permits coming in soon. I will not know for sure until they get here if we got concealed carry or not but we have to put guns on them right away so serious looking time is upon us.

Walther P99 and the baby glock are a couple that caught my eye to try out. Sig Saur P238 looks nice as well as some small options from north American arms.

    What do you guys carry??

Any hunting handgun info would be great too. Rybo??

I carry a Kahr p9 compact, not the most conceilable carry however small enough to do the job. I plan on getting a .380 for true carry all the time and I like the diamondback for that.

You may want to check out the Dessert Eagle with extended mag. They are really good for handling those pesky trappers. :)

Concealed carry guns area highly individualized and depend on the shooters comfort with recoil, safety manipulation, hand size, ability to conceal large or small guns in comfort, etc.
I lean towards the rather have a small easy concealed gun on me, than a large uncomfortable one I leave home.

As for hunting revolvers. For the best value for your dollar, a Ruger super black hawk hunter is REALLY hard to beat. 44 mag and very versatile.
Although they are out of my price range, some of the S&W hunter model revolvers are SWEET! Really, really nice guns, and they make them available in the larger calibers.
Then you have the world of contenders. Not sure if you want to jump to those right away. I picked one up for this year still in 44 mag and can't wait to shoot a deer with it. HIGHLY accurate gun. WOW! But when it's all said & done, I'll probably still go back to my revovlers for the bulk of my hunting.

I will speak on the hunting handgun part of this .... for the money, like Ryan said, you cannot beat the River super Blackhawk Hunter.... I like the.Bisley grip as I don't care for the roll of the standard Ruger SBH grip ... but that's me .... you can get that gun for under $700 and put thousands of rounds thru it with ZERO issues ...

Any chance I could somewhat hijack this thread for a side question?

I now have my CC permit here in Wisconsin and am looking as well. I DON'T want to spend a lot of money and likely won't be putting a ton of rounds through it aside from an occasional practice. What budget minded gun that is still quality would you recommend. I would like one on the safer side since my wife will be handling and potentially carrying as well.

I would like to spend in that $400 range if possible. But I also want something that is going to work when I need it.

$700 is just too much for me to spend at this time.

My wife carries a Bersa Thunder Pro 45 compact that I actually bought for myself. For a $400 gun,it'll surprise you at how accurate it is.Right up there with Glock,Smith,or any of the high dollar guns. And for a 45,the recoil is nill.No more that most 9mms I've shot. It's also lite and easy to handle and small enough to be easy to conceal.Which she likes.
Me personally,I carry a full size Springfield 1911-A1.But I don't conceal either ( even though I could and my 1911 conceals pretty easy ).Here in Ga. we can open carry if we want to,so I open carry and I carry everywhere I go.

I have a lot of pistols - autos and revolvers- but the one I trust my life with is probably the cheapest I have. It is a Kel-Tec PF9 ( 9MM) It fits in my front pants pocket without printing. You may want to check them out. Don't let the price fool you. It is a very reliable gun and that is what you want in a self-defense weapon.

My wife and I both have permits also, and the one thing I would recommend is no smaller caliber than 9mm.. Cheap to shoot, big enough for protection, and you can get a gun that can really have some rounds you can put down range. The one thing you HAVE to remember is that you need to practice with this thing, and the 9mm ammo you can get pretty cheap.

I carry a SIG p226, my wife carries a S&W M&P 9C. The trigger stuff on the GLocks is second to none, but I hate shooting them. MY wifes S&W has some good safety features and is small enough to carry easily.

Let me know in a PM if you'd like any help finding one. I have an FFL, so have a few contacts I could check.

I have a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Mag revolver for hunting, I love that gun. I put a larger grip on it, since my hands are pretty big. I shot a doe with it last year and she dropped in her tracks. The recoil is not that bad, which I always thought they recoiled harder before I shot it.

I am also in the process of buying a new pistol for my CC permit, but I don't know which one I will buy yet. I'm looking into a 1911 style .45, but am unsure of which exact model.

Glock 28 is good handgun. Solid performance, easy to maintain, and easy to conceal. You can get night sights for them also. Those sights glow like heck and make lowlight shooting very easy.
