On a canoe trip in northern Minnesota last summer, my friend and I brought minimal supplies and foraged and fished for our food. One of the drinks we made was pine needle tea. I'd never heard of pine needle tea before and was impressed by it.

Not only is it cheap to make, it is packed with vitamins C and A. It also has the added benefit of smelling like a pine tree which deer don't seem to mind. After reading a lot of threads lately about what to take in the stand with you, I thought I'd throw the idea up there as a nice warm drink to have with you on cold days and a natural way to mask your breath.

If anybody else has any old school tricks up their sleeves I'd be interested in hearing them.

Tried Pine Needle tea last year at elk camp and absolutely loved it!

I used to pack all my clothes in pine needles for a cover scent. For masking my breath I'm new school on that, chlorophyll.
