my set up came with 5 pins but i only set a twenty and thirty yard pin.does anyone use all five pins?i was told i didnt need a 10 yard pin.and i dont feel comfortable shooting 40 yards since i cant hit a consistent pattern that far out.

I used to use all 5 set at 20, 30, 40, 50, & 60 yards. Since then I've narrowed it down to 3 pins set at 20, 35, & 50 yards. I like it much better that way. 20 yard pin right on 0 to 20 yards, then I hold it high for 25 yards. Then I use the 35 yards right on at 35 and hold it a little low for 30 and a little high for 40 yards. Then the 50 right on at 50 yards, hold low at 45 and hold a little high at 55 yards. Works extremely well for me.

I have mine set at 20-30-40-50-60 as well. I only use my 20-30-40 pins for hunting. The others are just for fun shots.

I did this for 3D, when I shot a wheelie bow. And, I liked it a lot....

I set my top pin for 20yds (no need to set one, closer). I then slid all my remaining pins up tight to one another. All you do, then, is walk back and shoot in your yardages. Sure, they'll be odd yardages. But, you'll quickly get used to them (remember them). What this did for me, is it let me feel more confident in shooting the gaps (since they were all consistant).

I have a 5 pin tru glo & set my 20,30 & 40 initially. I hunt in thick woods (river bottoms) and literally can never have a shot over 30 yards but one day i was bored so i set my 50 & 60 pins also. Some day i'd like to arrow an antelope so i figure it's never to early to start practicing.

You also never know when you'll need those longer pins for a follow-up shot.

Great point Jeff. My pins are 20,30,40,50,60. 40 yards max on deer, 50 on elk. 60 is my follow up shot pin.
