I'm getting back into hunting after 13 years off. I just purchased a Bushnell 2011 8mp trophy cam. I'm curious on the different opinions weather you set your cams to picture or video. I purchased 2 8 gig memory cards & plan on alternating them every 2-3 weeks. Also do you set your cams to 8 mp or lower the quality to get more pictures. Love the site.

Welcome back to the ranks and congrats on your new camera. If you haven't used cams before, I predict it will open up a whole new world for you. As far as settings, I usually have my cams in the picture taking mode, but thats just me. As for your mp setting, you'll have to decide what you like best. Good luck and look forward to seeing your pics.

    Blessings......Pastorjim

I would definetly set it to 8 MP. With a 8 GB card it will hold about 8,000 pics. So there is no reason not to get the best pic possible. Looking forward to all the pics.

I agree set it to 8 and get the best pictures available As far as video or picture mode that is a personal preference I have been known to set 2 cameras over the same spot with 1 in video mode and 1 in picture mode I am addicted to both and could never pick. There are many trail camera photos contests out there but I don't know of any trail camera video contests.

Have fun and welcome back to bowhunting !

I usually switch back & forth between the two. Depends on my mood I guess...

Batteries last significantly longer in photo mode though.

    Welcome to the site :tu:

I like having my camera on video when it's on a scrape so I get to see how the whole process of a buck making a scrape. I've also had deer spook because of the video mode but some deer spook in the picture mode. Either way, it should be good.
