These pics are from about two weeks ago. I had sat on top of this windmill a few weeks before that hoping to stick a hog. Never saw a hog but lots of deer. The same for this go round.

I won't go back as I don't want to educate/spook the deer anymore seeing we are within 60 days of the season. I do plan to put a trail cam out here in the next few days.

I saw over 30 deer each of the two sittings (not all within bow range) as these deer either came to water or worked their way into the ag field adjacent. I was a little surprised they were working the field so hard since it is cotton and I ASSUMED that deer would not be utilizing it for feed. Not sure how much if any cotton they are eating but it appears they are eating on it some. More likely most of their eating is on "other" vegetation as this field is not that clean especially for cotton.

Great pics, and couple of good bucks too. When does your season open? You were just scouting I presume.

Gorgeous photos. Thank you so much for sharing. The first close up shot of the buck is now my desktop wallpaper. I hope you don't mind.

Nope. there are quite a few in the area, but none within 50 miles of where these photos were taken.

I was kinda scouting and kinda hog hunting. We ALWAYS see hogs around this windmill except when I have a bow with me. Our season starts ( I think anyway) on Sep 26.

I am not sure how to post multiple quotes in one response so rather than post multiple repsonses, I will just respond here without adding the quotes.

No, Rob I don't mind the use of that picture or any others that I have posted or will in the future as long as one is using it for personal use which I know is the case with you. I get satisfaction when someone enjoys my photos and finds a use for them, so please feel free to do so.

The only reason I have started adding a copyright mark onto my photos is that I did recently have a situation where someone was selling some of my photos. Not that they got any large amount of money, as "stock photography" is abundant and not that lucrative unless you really work hard at it. It was more the principle involved.
I have never sold a photo nor do I have any plans to do so. I Just didn't like someone else trying to do so at my expense.

    mnbowhunter,
I do not have any photography background other than being a "serious amateur" for the past six years .

In these particular photos, I used a 400mm lens and a monopod to help steady which increase clarity.

That's awful that someone would do that but then again, it comes as no surprise. People continually disappoint me. Every now and again there are gems though, like your photos, gems. Shame on the others! Thanks jackflap, keep them coming. I'm somewhat a photography buff myself. I thoroughly enjoy them.

    Great photos jackflap!

I've had this happen too as well as a fishing guide who took some of my pics and tried to claim them as his in a fishing report. Anything for a dollar I guess. I still don't copyright or watermark any of my photos, but I understand why you do. You have posted a number of high quality photos.

Great photography. On top of a windmill. Will you be hunting up there? If so just make sure you time your shots between the rotation of the arms:D
