Don't know how I missed this thread. Gorgeous Greg, now I can't wait til mine which I likely wont' see until Sept.
Thanks guys! I was thinking about this today driving around... I think I'm going to stop and buy a "thank you" card for my taxidermist and let him know just what an awesome job he did and how proud I am to hang this in my house.... I told him so when he finished it but I think it'll really mean something to him after it's hung in my house for a few days.
Hey guys, this is Greg's wife, Alison. The pictures really dont do it justice. It looks great on the wall with the medium sized buck and the bobcat. Now if I could just get Greg to get me the big 5x5 or bigger elk he has been promising me for a few years I will be even happier!! No pressure honey! lol!!
Hmmm. I wish my wife was this excited about adding extra mounts to the wall. I get one wall.......if it doesn't fit there it has to go in the man cave (basement).
Greg that is a great looking antelope. Looking forward to seeing the bobcat mount also. I got a bobcat at the taxidermist right now. Can you post a picture of the face, particularly the nose? Thanks and congratulations.
No kidding. My wife sees shoulder mounts as nothing more than $$ expended. A "nice one", to her, will be the one I've got coming that I won in a drawing.
LOL... that's what I get for leaving the site up before heading to work! No pressure ... yeah right. I STILL hear about that 5x5 which I nicked the bottom of his chest on right below his heart at 53 yards across that deep chasm two years ago! :D I'll try to take some pics of the cat tonight guys... been skinning out a coyote and coon and now it's time to head to karate. Be back on later tonight.
And Tony.... you haven't SEEN support until you've seen a wife have to duck around a coyote and a raccon hanging from the guide rails that our garage doors ride up and down on from the middle of our garage... two feet from the driver side door of her Lexus causing her to have to duck around them, LOL!! :D :D :D I think i"ve just about found her limit with this new little trapping adventure of ours... She's got no choice on the bowhunting, as it was my second question posed to her by me on our very first date... but I'm pushing it now! :D
Sorry to hear that GMMAT. I would not want to waste wall space on a free mount. There is no story behind the deer then and that is what is the most interesting to me. Not just the animal, but what it represents in the contest my husband fought between man and God's creation and the defenses He gave them. Or remembering which buck it was that I dropped (and broke!) the arrow that killed it for because it was too heavy while Greg was pulling the 200lb deer on a cart across the field. Or the one that Matthew (at 5 months old) and I helped Greg find in the middle of a cold night when he couldnt. Or the bobcat that he and Matthew got trapping together. To me the money, though expensive, is worth it for the memories. Greg will tell you that I love hanging family pictures up!! To me our mounts are similar family memories just with fur! Blessings to you all this Christmas and in your future hunts.
Greg, you misunderstood Jeff. He has a free mount coming, meaning that the next animal he decides to mount the taxidermist is doing it free of charge.
