I had a vision a few weeks ago about the arrow that I will use to take down a deer this year. My set-ups and mentality just scream, "black death" this year. :)

If you guys have any pictures of the arrows you plan to use this year or arrows from last year I would appreciate it if you posted them so I could get some ideas. And if there is any symbolism with your arrow designs I would like to hear those as well. Thanks.

Nothing fancy on mine either Brett, 2 green and one chartreuse fletch on a Gold Tip shaft and a razor sharp Snuffer on the end.
Recurve arrows are a little more fancy, 2 Orange and a Black Maxi Fletch with my own crest on wood tiped with a big Snuffer. I'll see if I can find a picture and post it.

I have 4 inch black feathers, black nocks, and a 150 grain Wensel Woodsman up front. My son really liked the arrow when I showed him. My camera is not very good, but the arrow looks sweet to me. This is the arrow I will use out of my recurve this year. I just keep having this thought that a big buck is going to come by at under ten yards and I am going to have to be as quiet as mouse and release my arrow when he is walking...it just keeps coming up in my thoughts.

Those black fletchings are gonna be hard to follow in flight. It's nice to have an idea of where you hit the deer. Just a thought.

Beat me to it, John... BEAUTIFUL arra, but I'd hate to have to track that thing in flight (I'd just have to chalk that up to impossible) and even worse I'd hate to have to find it after the shot...

The first pic is my favorite arrow from last year. It has a considerable amount of symbolic meaning to me since I took this pic just after I climbed down after shooting my first buck with my bow. The second is a whole quiver of the same setup ready for this year. Two special notes: 1. The top arrow in pic two is the same arrow in pic one. If you look close you can see a little blood stain at the base of the top vane. 2. Ain't it cool how in pic one you can't see the blood print on the Onestringer wrap?

That sucker is mean looking, I hope it goes just like your vision Brett. The Woodsman is a great head, alot of cutting surface on it.

Little Chief--those are some sweet arrows. I picked up a onestringer wrap for my bow this year and it is holding tight after the last 6-8 weeks.

Guys, I appreciate the feedback. A thing to keep in mind is that I am shooting a bow that just might be moving my arrow at 185fps. I can see my arrow take off and move for a period of time. I will take the arrow out and shoot it today to see what I can track in flight. I don't plan on having to find the arrow after I shoot a deer with it. I am going to find the deer within sight. :) Worst case scenario is that I change out my nock to a bright florescent color. I could also make some designs on the black shafts with some high visibility paint.

Last year I had feathers & wraps so bright you needed a welders mask to view them.
I toned it down a bit this year.
Just plain 4" vanes, 2 yellow, one white, with a yellow nock. No wraps.

Bails, those are nice! I have thought about using single bevel heads. I like the simplicity and look but I need to send one through an animal to gain the confidence to use them.

    GA--sweet wraps.

Bails, cannot make the elk camp, but thank you for the offer. I hope you all have a great time in camp so that you all make it a tradition. My heart will be in CO come September.

No pics yet, but I'll be rocking the following components this year:

    • Victory VForce V1 300's (9.9gpi @ 28.5")
    • MeanV 4" feathers (2x white barred, 1x red barred)
    • Bowhunting.com predator gray arrow wraps
    • Muzzy 100gr brass inserts
    • Victory pin bushings w/ Bohning pin nocks
    • Rage 100gr 2 blades, and Slick Trick Grizz Trick 4 blades
They should be a finished arrow weight of just around 515 grains, and my D-340 should be pushing them just around 275fps at only 62lbs.

Who would have thought 10 years ago that you could get nearly 90lbs of KE out of a 62lb bow? :D

Thanks man! Onestringer did a great job, it was exactly what I had pictured in my head.
