So you're one of those people who think the gun shooting are a result of too much violence in movies and video games? and?
No, but I blame Hoosies for making me believe a skinny short white kid could play with 6' 5'' inch brothers from Detroit Jimmy Chitwood I am not
Answer what question? Who influences young society the most? I would imagine most young people will tell you that their parents influenced them the most, but I'm sure that is not what you want to hear.
I'm pretty sure I'm on record as such. People generally are a product of their environment. My point about Hollywood is just that because it's such common place, and available, there's a higher probability that people get involved in it, and ultimately many of them lose control of if. If it were like any other workplace in America, there would be a no tolerance policy and random drug testing.
Parents SHOULD influence them the most, but unfortunately the world is full of Sh**y parents. Most people turn out just fine, but without right guidance, many do not.
Lame and I know you can do better then that. Most kids quit listening to their parents at 12. They are listening to someone else. Who and where are they getting their info ?? Tim
I never would have thought I would see someone on this forum blaming Hollywood instead of bad parenting for kids turning to drugs.
It takes bad parenting first. So the blame is squarely on the parents, but many things influence peoples lives. If the parents do a poor job of raising their kids, then outside influences will always be a factor. Ever here of peer pressure? Same concept.
How about we stop blaming others for someone drug use. People make their own choices to use or not use drugs. Plenty of drug users have great parents and Plenty of non drug users have **** parents ....so your argument sucks.
Movies are made about everything in life. Like it or not drugs are a part of society so that subject will not be excluded from movies. I would also add that many movies have shown how hard core drugs have ruined peoples lives.
So what influences peoples actions? Nothing, it's all on their own? Good parenting doesn't help? Bad parenting doesn't hurt? Something has to influence people. I'm not taking the responsibility off the addict. Everyone is responsible for their own actions. My point about Hollywood or bad parents is that without a good structure, one that does not promote this type of behavior, it's easier for someone to fall into the trap of drug addiction. It's still that individuals own fault. Just stating that it can be prevented with a proactive approach.
I watched Trainspotting (a movie pretty much about nothing but heroin) when I was fifteen or sixteen. Seeing that movie was all I needed to know that I never, ever wanted to do heroin.
As far as influence, as a former young person who made some good and some bad decisions, i will tell you this. Its a 50/50 line between the parents and the friends. There comes a time in everyone's life when they stop caring about what their parents think, and start doing their "own" thing, which is usually influenced by the crowd they hang out with. Last time i checked, this is America, and people have the right to make whatever they want. People also have the right to not watch it, cancel their TV service, move to the mountains, raise their children without real world interaction, ect.
I never once made a call to censor, that was you putting words in my mouth. I merely was pointing out that Hollywood has an influence on peoples behavior and thought process. A statement which you decided was the dumbest thing you've ever heard.
Good actor or not, it really grinds my gears that people act like he was a mytyr. He was a grown man with kids and someone that people looked up to. He died with a needle in his arms. Now his kids no longer have a father and these people that looked up to him, what, think it's normal? Sorry if I'm ranting and it's terribly sad and tragic when anyone dies, but I don't think we need memorials for him. The worst part is his poor children that now have to deal with a father that didn't love them enough to kick it. That's what's sad.
No my point was that Hunger Games is the same adolescent maturity level as Twilight. So I'm surprised at all the tweens on this site. I like movies like Hostel II and The Devil's Rejects.
Tie this to the drug decriminalization discussion and you can see the results. People will choose some drugs over even their own children like this guy. He claimed on a 60 Minute interview to have been clean for 23 years and yet he returned to it because his affair with heroin was more important than his three children and his girlfriend.
