You are just a harsh meany !! I agree with you 100%. I feel sorry for his family and what he put them though. I feel sorry for kids getting mixed up in it. I tend not to have much sympathy for an adult doper or alcoholic. I have no sympathy for one with kids and a wife.

Here's a quote by Dennis Quaid specifically referencing how drugs are part of the scene while filming.

"My greatest mistake was being addicted to cocaine. I started after I left college and came to Los Angeles in 1974. It was very casual at first. That's what people were doing when they were at parties. Cocaine was even in the budgets of movies, thinly disguised. It was petty cash, you know? It was supplied, basically, on movie sets because everyone was doing it. People would make deals. Instead of having a cocktail, you'd have a line."

You think it's any different today? I don't. It's probably more discrete, but you can guarantee it's available.

I'm sure it is. But why keep making excuses? This stuff is available everywhere! People need to quit looking for crutches when tragedy strikes and take it for what it is. He made the choice, he suffered the inevitable, move on.

I'm not making excuses. Quit the contrary. My point is that Hollywood is full of it, yet it is completely swept under the rug. As I said before, it's basically promoted by Hollywood. I personally have no sympathy for him. He chose to play Russian roulette and he lost. Oh well. Life goes on for the rest of us.

Thanks for listing every movie that references drugs, not sure how referencing drugs "promotes" drug use, but ok.

And it is not a big secret that cocaine is big in Hollywood, especially in the 70s and 80s when cocaine was king  Cocaine is big most rich people.

What in the world just happened?

I'm just sad there will be no Dusty if they ever make a Twister 2.

Hollywood promoting drug use because it's in movies? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I guess it promotes premarital sex, alcohol abuse, violence, murder and unrealistic dreams too. We better get rid of that $100 billion industry pronto!

I feel bad for his family... But I have absolutely no sympathy for him. Sure, people with insights to addictions will say "you can't say that until you have dealt with it."

My response - If you know you have an addictive personality then why even start with the drugs? A man with three young children that knows he has a problem should have been more responsible about the situation. There are no excuses beyond that.

It does all of that. You young impressionable youngsters are just putty in their hands. Back in the day there was right and wrong. Now days it is all a grey area. Why is that and who has influenced the young society the most ??? It sure isn't parents or teachers.

First off, don't insult me unless you want it right back at you!

By promoting, I mean displaying it as if it's Ok behavior. If you don't think people, especially young people are influenced by the things they see on TV and in the movies, then you're an idiot. How many Youtube videos are there out there of people imitating stupid stunts from the Jackass movies? Have you never seen a kid imitate something he saw in a movie?

Also, if drugs are allowed to be used on the sets, then yes, I would say Hollywood is promoting it by not enforcing and anti-drug policy. Recently Jack Black admitted to going on an ecstacy induced rampage while on set. There have been scores of actors that have admitted that drugs are common in and around the set.

Until a couple weeks ago I didn't know who he was until I read about him here. Didn't care enough to watch the video posted of him so no idea if he is a punk or not. Guess we will never know. In a couple weeks, I will have forgotten all about him. :)
