It's sad that he passed. What's really sad is people's attitudes that if it doesn't directly affect me or my family who cares? A HUMAN BEING that was sick with an addiction needed help and didn't receive it, is sad. The lack of compassion in today's society is sickening.

Rehab doesn't heal addiction, the person does. Heroin is an EVIL. drug. You can be clean for 10 years and then one day for no reason the need will resurface. It's a battle the addict fights for the rest of their life.

I hear where you are coming from Nj. As a father of three I cannot imagine letting a substance such as heroin override my desire to be a father to my children and a husband to my wife.

Our skin is getting thicker, we trivialize death when we deem it so easily preventable, this guy didn't have cancer, he might as well put a gun in his mouth, as that needle in his arm.
There were a lot of people that killed them selves this weekend, this one should matter to us why? How many kids were made orphans, does any one really care?

Any one hear about the guy getting shot over texting, oh yea that's so two weeks ago.

How about that war on drugs?

I get the addiction part, but what I can never understand is the how you start. What are you thinking the first time you try it? It baffles me.

We are seeing a **** load of heroin overdoses up this way. From what I understand its cheaper and easier to get then ever......one thing is for sure I have pushed plenty of Narcan.

Does his family deserve more of our concern than those of the countless others who die every day from addictions? Why...because he was famous? The guy was an actor so of course his career would be the natural focus of the conversation. It's the only reason we knew who he was in the first place.

I believe being a public figure brings awareness to a higher level and just maybe we might think of the people around us more. I am sure accidental overdose is just that.. He was getting high on a drug that super powerful and only one time will hook or kill you.
I still have much compassion for all his family as some form of addiction is common place in most family's in some form during are life times from drinking to drugs and even power and money can bring out the worst in many of us.

So when is an acceptable time frame in which we can begin discussing other things than his family?

Don't misconstrue conversation spurred by an event for lack of respect.

I do feel sorry for the family but when it comes to a grown man or woman making decisions that could kill them and eventually do I will never feel bad for them. EVER!!!! They know how addictive and bad it is but does it anyway without regard for himself or his family and I'm supposed to be compassionate about their death, I don't think so they dug their grave when they started using.
