Has anyone been doing any pheasant hunting in between deer hunts this year? I went out for the first time today with my father-in-law and a couple other guys and we got our limit within an hour. All wild birds and plenty more to be had. The population around my area has exploded the past few years and it looks like there was another really good hatch this year. We'll be going back out again tomorrow morning. All of the dogs are German Wirehaired Pointers and they did great this morning! My pup is the third in line and the rest are my father-in-laws. It was pretty wet out this morning, so they look a little rough haha.

AWESOME. Hunting birds over a good dog is such a treat.

Awesome stuff! I've been doing a little bird hunting. Need to go more though that's for sure. My GSP loves it!

    Awesome man.

We don't have much, if any of a pheasant population around here. We do have some small hunt clubs that have pheasants and chuckers and what not. But prices are outrageous though.

Had another good day this morning. We had to work quite a bit harder but still ended up with 9 roosters between 5 of us. I was extremely happy with how my dog did today.

What size shot do you use for pheasants?

Everyone has their own preferences with shot size but I've been shooting 6's.
