Not the same, not even close. He would have probably got away with it if he weren't calm

Not so much rehabilitation, but punishment. I don't think we should take one human taking another human's life so lightly, no matter how much a degenerate the victim might be.

Was the kid dead when he shot 5 more times?

    I'm not defending the robbers.

And the pharmacist did defend his employees, but after the threat he defended against was neutralized, he then proceeded to kill neutralized threat.

While I agree 1st degree murder might be a stretch.. I also don't know all the facts of the case. And I'm sure either does anyone here.

I'm cool with shooting someone in self-defense.

But coming back with another gun.. after already shooting someone in the head.. standing over them and firing 5 more times... and its a 16 year old kid.

    That was excessive. Certainly manslaughter.

I do have to ask.. as I agree with MN on the eerie calm of the man.

Who would you feel safer walking the streets?

The 16 year old kid whose a thief..

Or the 50 year old man whose a killer?

I'll take the 16 year old any day.. as he doesn't know crap about life yet and for all I know maybe he was just hungry. But that 50 year old man who should know a thing or two about life would scare the pants off of me.

The guy just flipped it looks like. Yes, he went to far. First degree??? I don't think I would have called it that. With all the emotions and under the heat of the moment.... OH wait... the guy went and got a second gun. Guilty as charged. He looks like a whacko and acted like a whacko. Definitely total disregard for the life of another. The defense of "he was still moving and a threat is rediculous". The kid had been down and out for minutes and the guy walks past him twice before tapping him a half dozen more times. Obviously.... the guy is a little bit of a nut case. Pick up the perps gun and call the police. He would have been better defended by saying I flipped. I had flashbacks of war or something..... but saying the guy was still a threat. I don't think so. Yes, a couple from the hood got bested..... but a nut case got revealed.

Robbers will be shot...survivors will be shot again.

That verdict is a joke, but not surprising at all. I would have probably made sure that tape didn't exist though if I were the pharmacist, or just held my foot on his throat for a couple of seconds til he quit squirming, you know just to restrain him until the cops got there. I'll bet those two women and their families were thankful the pharmacist was there. It's a pity that a 14 and 16 year old are out pulling armed robberies, all of the 16 year olds family who were so happy and celebrating the verdict may want to quit celebrating for a minute and sign up for some parenting classes.

Again, are you being logical or emotional? Take emotion out of it. Kid is dead, and thats it.

I don't think I'm being emotional about anything.

Thats what the attorney was arguing.

Sure, you keep saying "5 more times". It doesn't matter if its 30 more times and came in and ran a vehicle over him.

Here is where I need more info, how many times has he been robbed before? Was this the straw that broke his back? He worked hard to build his busniess up and make a decent living for his family. Now someone for the X's amount of time was trying take that from him.

He may have just flipped out, I mean i doubt the dude walks up and plugs 5 rounds into a guy for just falling in his store.

Lets see.....a couple seconds later and the 16 year old armed robbers could of killed...what 2, 3, 4 or possibly even more people....one got killed first and the other fled before they got the chance to! Sorry but you put a lot of faith into armed robbers prepared to kill innocent people...not me!

Nope, he could have pulled another gun and shot another person. OK, is not like MD, "your back against the wall" state.

Some of you guys have been in some extremely stressful situations. The stressful situations I used to get into on occasion were some violent fights when I was attacked. Several times I remember punching and pounding without even thinking. I was under extreme stress due to being attacked by gang members, aholes, etc. I remember having guns pulled on me and my friends and the thoughts running through my head were not normal, not even after the event was over for many minutes.

If a guy is getting robbed by gunpoint then he is under extreme stress. I would have found him temporarily insane and let him walk. My point, DON'T friggin rob someone with a gun unless you want to be killed. And if you get killed, please don't cry about it.
