Breaking news... Peyton has been cleared to play football again by two doctors. One of the Doctors said he could play this weekend if he needed to.
Nerves don't regenerate. He may be cleared to get a pay day, but he's done competing at the level he once did. Offensive coordinator.....he'd make one heck of an offensive coordinator. Maybe someday he'll pull a Harbaugh
There has been a huge amount of gossip going back and fourth in Indy. Personally, I think it's because the local news reporter can't stand the fact there's a lot of news being made in the way of sports without him. Anyways, Irsay loves Manning. Indy loves Manning. Irsay said the other day he pays millions of dollars a year to players to win. And I quote "What's 28 million dollars to win when I'm paying out 802 million dollars in players salaries." Vinnateri was quoted the other day of saying that he's watched Manning in practice and sees no difference in the old Manning. The colts will use the #1 pick on one of the top QBs. Irsay said himself he is going to draft Manning's heir, but he is going to do so with the intent of living in Manning's shadow, much the same that Green Bay did. A hall of fame quarter back retires and a MVP quarterback is there to take his place. I really like where Indy has gone. IMO Luck is a lot like Rothlesburger in they're both big and can move. The Ravens have the #3 defense in the nation. The colts had a very rough season last year but I'm really looking forward to this coming.
I have heard from the local media that Shanahan and the Redskins might be interested in him. God, I hope not.
For Peytons sake? I must be missing something. It's Peyton Manning! The dude can still play QB at Peyton Mannng level. Whoever he ends with is an instant SB contender. I wished they'd dump Romo and grab him for a few years.
Last rumor I heard was that Manning and Irsay have been discussing a performance based contract. I believe Manning will be a Colt. Though it may not seem as of recent, Manning and Irsay have a very good relationship. You have to remember, Peyton never demanded to be the highest paid QB in the league, Irsay demanded that. A lot of the recent spat was simply frustration of the situation, compounded by the fact that a lot of coaches that Manning spent most of his NFL career with were leaving. Irsay has said he is looking as an heir to Peyton's throne that can teach a young phenom QB, much of what Farve/Rodgers, you know, the league MVP.
Nerves do regenerate. They just take a loooooooooong time to do so, and they do at their own pace. From what I've heard on sports shows from the doctor that operated on him is that the nerves can take anywhere from 8 months to 2 years, maybe even longer, to heal. The way i see it is that he still has the ability to play, it's just a matter of how long the nerves will take to heal. If they're ready to go by next season then we'll get to enjoy watching possibly one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the NFL play again. I would love to see him play again, but if it takes 2 more years for him to get back in the game I would rather see him retire and become a broadcaster or coach than to watch his career end on a failed comeback.
They weren't. Until he tried to do what no other human can.....regenerate nerves at superman speed. He may play, but he ain't never gonna be at Peyton Manning levels again.
