Anyone who maintains a yard or garden in a rural area is probably all too familiar with the common 13 lined Ground Squirrel, and how if left unchecked, a population of 5 or 10 can quickly multiply to 50 or more resulting in damage to landscape plantings, vegetables, and building foundations. Being opposed to the use of rodenticides that may result in the inadvertent secondary poisoning of their natural predators, like the magnificent birds of prey that have recently returned to my area after near extinction from the pesticide DDT 40 years ago, I decided to buy a pack of small game tips to keep the population under control. I recommend the type with springs like the Zwickey Judo points I used in the video, as I have yet to lose an arrow or break a tip. Carbon Express and a few other manufactures also make points similar to the Zwickey’s for about the same price. Along with the pest control aspect, it is also a great way to keep your archery skills in tune, since they tend to hold their position when you’re outside of 15 to 20 yards. Be sure to check your states regulations, as the removal of some species of ground squirrels is restricted in a handful of states.
