Anyone here have anything they use? I looked online, but couldn't find anything that was very good. There is a property not far from my house that I want to check out, but there isn't a house and the GIS says the owners are in Florida. I have an idea for the letter, but I figured a template might be helpful for additional ideas as to language of the letter. I'm sure there is a point you can say too much, but I don't want to not say enough. I figure short and sweet is best.

Just explain who you are, where from what you'd like to do and how you will respect game and property blah blah blah. From what Ive experienced people have a preconceived thought on whether or not they're going to let people use their land. It's likely you aren't going to say anything in a letter that will sway that decision short of "I'm donating my time to guide underprivileged/handicapped kids or wounded veterans" couple paragraphs of explanation should suffice! Good luck. Being that they are out of state you probably have a good chance if they are decent people assuming they don't use I as their hunting get away!

Someone farms it, but other than that I don't see it used. The names on the property appear to be females, so I'm thinking the chances of them hunting are slim.

Maybe the farmer could give you a heads up if you could locate him. He may have the rights to let you hunt even?

this is a great idea, as I'm not very good at putting my words to paper, so some sort of template would be nice...

I'm pretty sure Tyinmiller (member on here) wrote a great thread on how he does it a year or so ago. Try the search function and look for it. Best of luck.

If it was somebody else, I apologize.

All I do is 100% bow hunt so,I always let the person know that all I am interested in doing is bow hunting "no gun hunting". That helps a lot because in today's world a lot of people are scared of guns. My wife also bow hunts all the time with me which, I think plays a big role in getting me spots to hunt. I wrote 3 letters a couple of days ago so hopefully it will work.
