Went to join the orange army this week, spent most of the time on public ground. Went in today around 1:30, i split off from a buddy a little ways in. I get in set up, get a text..." some SOB stole one of my cables" so someone took one of his cables off of his summit climber that was locked to a tree. I mean, who does that...that's just plain ****ty.
I mean atleast they didn't steal the whole thing, it could have been alot worse but that is a real jerk move
Real talk.... He left a climbing stand attached to the bottom of a tree on public land ....its 2012 what did you think would happen? It's sad I know, but the best offense is a good defense. Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, I don't mean to sound insensitive but my Dad always said, if it's not bolted down someone will steal it! Totally sucks. We had some trail cams stolen from private land a few years ago. The only thing we could figure was the mushroom hunters saw the flash go off and didn't want to get busted trespassing so they took the cameras. Totally sucked. The joys of public land. Sorry to hear about this.
Ya I hunt on private land had trail cameras and a hang on stand stolen in the past. And it was a lone wolf too, I wanted to shoot those morons for stealing all my hard earned equipment.
I stepped onto one of my hang-ons once and it moved abit. Could have lost my balance, some scumbag took one of my ratchet straps! Now I check to make sure both straps are there no matter how much a hurry im in.
I've had my fair share of things stolen as well, but the one that sticks out the most was my lucky hunting hat. It was the hat I killed many of my first deer with and I cherished it. Some creep stole it out of the back of my truck one day while I was in the woods.
Leaving a stand on a tree on public land (up here anyways) is heavily frowned upon. It's like trying to reserve a tree on public land. Sounds like someone was trying to teach your friend a lesson as all he wanted was to disable his stand, not steal it.
It doesn't surprise me that someone messed with it, thus why I don't leave my climber. I don't think it was someone trying to 'teach him a lesson' I think it was just someone being an ***.
X2 on this, Its pretty much first come first serve around here on public ground, Not first one to hang a stand. If that was the case id have stands hanging all over public ground.
