I have been fortunate in my bow hunting career of 18 years or so that I have only lost one deer...I hit him square in the shoulder and later got his shed from one side. Did he die after turkey season, I do not know. I do know he made it from November to April. With that being said, I think alot of this "success" is do to the fact i will not shoot past 35 yards in the woods. I could push 40, but that dead deer walkning feeling leaves me somewhere around 35 yards.

To the point, why not a pendulum. The top of the line ones seem to be good to 35 yards (I am shooting 300 fps) so that helps out. Elimination of pins, range...inside 35 yards, hold on deer, kill deer. No pins to worry with, unless you get a model with a fixed pin for 40 and beyond.

So what say ye???Pendulum or no, and if so who makes a good one?

I have never shot a pendulum before my good friend has and he liked his.. I like to have that comfort of my set pins. Put then again I like the idea of point and aim. So I guess I am no help

My brother had one on his bow and it was great to use. He did have a problem when we turned his bow up though. It was a TruGlo. He had it for 5 years and one day he was shooting and dropped the bow and the weight on the bottom broke off. They still sale the one he had. I haven't noticed to many on the market though. I was told by a pro shop a few months back (its the one I no longer go too so take it as you want) that they were not accurate on the newer bows because the newer ones have a flatter trajectory than the old ones and they do not line up like they should or something to that effect.

Here is the one he had. Don't bust my ba**'s about the site link. It has a good pick of it. lol

I have shot a pendulum for more than 20 years and IMO there is nothing like them. Just aim and shoot, what could be easier. For most of those 20 some years I shot a Keller and it was adequate. Then a couple of years ago, My father-in-law got a Trophy Ridge Mantis with V-Drive. It had alot more features and so I ended up buying a couple of them. I don't think they are made any longer but you can pick them up off ebay or AT's classifieds. I really like the site and I really like the pendulum concept. Here's a pic of the Trophy Ridge.

I was a long time user of pendulum sights and loved them. Back in the day I really attribute the use of one to eliminating a lot of misses.
I've now gone to fixed pins because my hunting varies a lot and I don't have the need for a pendulum anymore. But when I used one, it was THE most important piece of gear I had.
