Went to my local bow shop and had him serve my peep for me. I am not good with knots, I made a few attempts but couldn't make my serving tight enough. Anyway, when I went to have the local bow shop serve it for me, I did no bring my release aid. When he was ready to serve it, he asked if the peep was in the right location. I pulled the string back and it felt 'ok'. I got home with my bow and started shooting and it just seems like the peep is a little too high. I do not feel comfortable and I don't think my grouping is as good as it should be. The other problem I have is I just don't have the ten dollars it would take to have him re-tie. So, my question is, could the peep being a little too high cause my grouping to be off a little bit? I feel like I am struggling to keep on my target and line everything up just before I release my arrow. Thanks guys (and gals).
mab, If your peep is higher than what you normally, you should be shooting high, unless you have adjusted your sight upward. Before doing anything else, try looking at your anchor point to see if you have moved you head too far back at full draw. Consider where your knuckles are relative to your chin. With a little effort you should be able to move your peep down a bit without disturbing too much. It may rotate a little on you when you do it; so take it slow.
I'd take the opportunity to practice my knot tying, what happens if you need to make a repair in the field? I use a super-knot, it's just a bunch of overhand knots stacked up.
you should check your peep height by drawing your bow with both eyes closed then open your sight eye. you should see through your peep straight to you sight . move your peep slightly up or down, and redraw the both with eyes closed untill you do not have to move the bow for a clear sight line. I have used dental floss to tie peeps in. it holds your knots so you can get a good wrap. then a dap of fletch tight. good luck
usually you can slide the peep up or down a little when they tie with serving thread. i too tie mine in with dental floss. stuff will not move on you, but can be a real pain getting off if you have to move things a bit lol
