I never got to ask him what he felt like that day, turning 18, and know what may be to come.

He was my role model and that buck was the last one he held in his hands. I have that one on a shelf down in the basement. It's the only buck I don't hang on a wall. That buck was an old timer and the taxy found a slug in his neck.

Based on what goes on here, none here would have liked him. He was a Democrat, Obama-loving liberal as some would say. If you look beyond the noise.

He lived through the Great Depression and left school in the 8th grade to work so his family could eat.
    Was married for 56 years
Help start and became Chair of the Board for the town Credit Union
Taught 4 grandkids how to hunt and fish

I pretty much make decisions in my life based on what I think he would have done, he's a great role model to follow and the kindest yet toughest man I knew.

The night before he died I stayed with him in the hospital all night, I simply did what he asked without questions. At 4:13 am I'll never forget that time he stood up in his bed and said "Jr tell my kids this needs to stop please, it's my time" I did so, and still think about that day often.

What I would not give for 1 more hunt or 1 more sit on his boat the Buddy Lo.
A year later someone broke into my truck and stole my hunting back, I lost the Swarovski Bio, Leica rangefinder, GPS, and many other items. You know what bothered me the most, was that hat was taken. I'd give anything for that hat back.

    Happy Birthday Grandpa

Sorry for the lose. He sounds like a good man. I lost my grandfather 9 years ago.

My son is 28 today, asked if he was going out, nope grilling a lobster tail and having a cigar. Proud of my son, he is taller than me, smarter than me he is very successful yet very humble.
