The wife and I watched it last night. We enjoyed it, but afterwards she asked me if I learned anything. I said no, not really. She wasn't surprised and said she learned a lot, but she's not a student of the whitetail like lots of us. I thought they glossed over lots of important info re: hunting and conservation, but I understand that wasn't the point of the show. They did state that at the turn of the century populations had been reduced to ~ 1 million and now are +30 million, but they didn't explain much more than that or talk about what drove their recovery - ending market/commercial hunting, game laws & cooperation from hunters re: those laws, etc
pretty cool documentary, thanks for sharing. some beautiful deer they captured on video...I also didn't know how abundant that particular part of NY is with deer...crazy
this is one of those times i wish we had cable...... is there any way of watching it online if anyone knows?
I just finished watching the documentary and it was pretty good. Nothing new to me but I was super excited about the albino deer.
I taped it and just got finished watching it. Cayuga Heights is 30 miles from where I live and they DO have an enormous amount deer there! On the other side of the lake live a whole head of white deer (they are non-albino) at the Seneca Army Depot. I was suppose to go hunting in Cayuga County this past season... but it did not happen. Hopefully I will this season.
