Was diskin corn ground today when vet called me asked me to tag along with her after I milked this evening. Asked me to bring my tranq gun and darts. She meve told me why just assumed had a wild cow calf or bull on the loose. So come 615 I meet her at her home jump in her truck and we head out to a mans farm. Get there dude had about 45 sticker calves 5-700# around feed troughs. Nothing out of the ordinary at the moment. He told me to walk down through them and look at each 1's right side something was sticking out of 1 of his calves but he couldn't make out what it was. After a little peaking and digging around I finally found out what he wasn't sure of I knocked the calf down wth a dart and some meds. Vet made a couple cuts and eased the arrow out. Gas had built up big time. Calf was suffering had. While he was knocked out asleep she just went ahead and injected meds into the vein of the steers neck and put him out for good. Apparently a little brat of a 12year old up the road has shot his calf just for the fun of it. Not gonna end up pretty for that family if they don't come up with a couple grand. Bow season hasn't even opened here in Virginia yet. We people rely on cattle as much to take care of us as they rely on us to take care of them. Though we make beef of them they do not deserve to go through this. No wonder hunting permission is a thing of the past and you can't blame a farmer at all For it because you never know what hoodlum will turn up next
That's horrible, little brat needs a stronger male role in his life. We've all been young and stupid, it's unfortunate when innocent people/animals pay the consequence! Hopefully it was an honest mistake made by a kid.
Kid was seen chasing the mans calves through the field with his bow by neighbor farmer then owner of calves called the step dad Asking him about it as then the step dad told Him the kid had shot 1 Earlier that Day. The step daddy has said they have since shipped Him off to elsewhere. Think they are going to have him evaluated. Said all he talks and thinks about is seeing stuff die. Said he got in a fight at school and Expelled him parents Said when he come home he should have just killed the boy but he will just do it when he goes back to school. Step daddy told me personally tonight that they try to raise him better but he just cannot be controlled said they had to take further action because he was uncontrollable. The step daddy seemed like a Good guy in a bad position. Offered To pay vet bill there on the spot and willing to cover anything else that comes along.
Good Lord..... To quote Mr. Anderson from Beavis & Butthead, "that boy ain't right in the head" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pulled this picture from another forum I’m on. He was elk hunting in a brush blind, doing some cow elk calls & bow hunter just shot into the brush blind. How in the world do you explain just shooting towards a noise that sounds like an animal? Some people shouldn’t even be allowed to pick up a gun or bow!!! This is a sick and very sad story but I have a hard time believing a 12 year old is uncontrollable. This is an excuse for poor and inconsistent parenting. This boy has been out of control for probably 11 years. When you don't correct rebellion with consistency you will raise a rebel. We all like to glorify the word rebel but to a parent there is almost nothing worse. I blame the parents 100%. Not for just being "at a loss" but for 12 years of poor parenting. Serial killers are not born. They are made. This kid probably needs professional help now, but it most likely didn't need to be that way.
Bob. I'd say 95% of the time you are right. The other 5% of the time the kids really are mentally ill. No matter what you do as a parent or guardian, that kid is going to struggle badly. Genetics. Environment. Some kids are darn near impossible to be saved if they are mentally ill enough. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
The above couldn't be farther from the truth! I work for a great fellow who was a cop for 20 years, now running a tree service. This man's parenting skills could not have been better raising his three boys (22,19,17) as well as possible. The oldest two boys are perfect gentleman, while the youngest one is COMPLETELY out of control!! He's been this way from the start. He lies, steals (even from family), breaks things for no reason, and uses foul language to his own mother. He tells her he hopes she dies! He would not go to school, so his Dad had to put him in a special school (where he can't leave) for problem kids. Sometimes kids are just born with crossed up wires, poor parenting isn't always the culprit! The parents of children like this have my sympathy.
