Doesnt ruin my day, I dont take this stuff too seriously. It is too much fun. Like you, I had some backstraps for lunch and just set up a ground blind, and prepped two trees for me and my buddy come opening morning.

It's legal and he can kill a deer in an enclosure, and I'm Ok with that. But posting it on a hunting forum is going to have these same results every time. And I'm OK with that.

That isn't hunting IMO....But I don't care, 95% of everything posted in the "bowhunting" forum has nothing to do with hunting. At least this thread was fun and entertaining to read, which makes up about 1% of everything posted in the "bowhunting" forum.

Lots of good posts and lots of just kind of stupid posts. I'm happy if the guy that shot it is happy. I don't feel that being disrespectful of the premise of deer farms really has much to do one way or the other with the guy that shot this deer. Being "legal" isn't going to make me feel any better about what I feel is a poor practice (which again, I'm talking about deer farms).

For one thing, legally being allowed to grow these fake monsters will and has already hurt the sport of deer hunting. When's the last time anyone of us saw a monster buck and didn't think it probably came from a deer farm.

For a second thing, how many disease outbreaks in wild herds began from a deer farm that's basically like a cow feed lot with densities so grossly high that disease was unavoidable and spread via runoff from the pens to wild deer in the surrounding area.

There are lots of reasons to be against mass production of whitetail deer, none of them have to be geared towards the folks that financially support them.

Amen, and good for him. I'm happy for him and I'd be proud if I'd shot it in my garage, on a deer farm, at cabelas, or on state game land. Matter of fact I mean sling an arrow through one of the mounts at cabelas just because.
I think all y ' all complaining are acting like a bunch cackling hens.

What a joke. You can watch hunts from this place on YouTube. Hunter, camera man, "guide" and others all fumbling around withing 50 yards of deer and not the first sign of concern.

World Class Trophy Hunts - 201 and up Class: Starts at $15,000

$15,000 and up, looks like the Pastor business is a good business to be in these days

I figure I'll throw out my opinion. Number one- I have nothing against the guy who did it, since he wasn't the one to bring it up onto the forum. If it's legal and floats his boat, I'm not going to bash him. But.... I am very against the captive deer industry. It's pretty much been proven that it spreads diseases like CWD. And it doesn't benefit the sport as a whole at all. I guarantee most people would be more likely to support hunting if the captive deer industry didn't exist. Again, don't want to personally hate on the guy for doing it. I'm just saying I wouldn't do it and that I strongly dislike the system and think it would benefit everyone and the deer herds for the practice to be banned.

Yeah posting that on a HUNTING forum not cool, going to a high fence facility and shooting that buck good for him if that's what he wants to do. I was invited to a preserve in PA one time by a vendor, I went and had a good time and shot a buck but it was no big deal no real adrenalin rush just a shot and a kill. I did get it mounted that was a mistake, would I go again? Yes if it was a free weekend but I wouldn't pay $8000.00 to shoot a deer.

I'm fairly new to Forums and been mostly reading and learning interesting things. But this topic interests me enough to post. I never will understand the "time" argument. That's one the country singer used who shot a pet bear in a one acre pen in MN and got in trouble because he tagged it as wild. We're all busy. Many of us are short on money as well. But I'd rather have the experience of hunting and not tagging anything in the little amount of time. To quote grandpa from Grumpy Old Men: "You realize that pretty soon.. you'll be GONE and that all you have, see, is the experiences...that's all there IS Johnny.....everything.... the EXPERIENCES....."
