Jealousy has nothing to do with it.

    This is a hunting forum.

    Not a home decoration forum.

My buddy cuts the younger bucks antlers off once the velvet falls off. Keeps them from hurting themselves and others.

You know that's a fair point about spending money to kill deer. The difference between the tens of thousands I and my landlord spend every year and 20-30K for a high fence deer is that we're growing several herd on several properties and turkey and quail also. Like it or not we're also improving hunting for miles around from the improvements we make to the herds. SO the thousands we spend does a hell of a lot more per dollar than the purchase of one un-natural buck that is genetically altered to live a life of torture in captivity. To make it worse they learn to trust and depend on their owners and then get betrayed to be shot while waiting to be hand fed...probably a merciful act to be honest. No animal meant to carry at most a couple hundred inches of antler, should have to walk around with their head slumped because of growing 500".

God bless the folks that enjoy what they do but if they have to rely on my money to fund them they better find another source of income.

Well been a intressing form none the less lol but all in all no matter what I dont think anyone should judge anyone. Or make fun of someone or there deer they killed. This man is a Pastor who has cared for people all over the world and you poke fun? Its my mistake to share a Freak of a Whitetail so it surely my fault. You see you judge without knowledge of a man who has spent 100,000 of thousand on feeding the poor in africa and giving 100's of jobs in louisiana but you look only at him killing a deer he didnt pay for from a farm you JUDGE and in that you are judged. I Pray everyone have a Blessed year hunting!! Be Blessed

Thanks for sharing. Be careful though, I think high horses come with a safety warning.

Since we're on the topic of fenced in deer, here's a pretty good story of an experience I had with a pen-raised deer.

I've got a buddy that raises deer to sell to these places too. He lives about 2 miles from me as the crow flies. A big storm blew through the area a few years ago in October and all his bucks got out. The 1 and 2 year old bucks came right back looking for food. A couple of 3.5 year olds didn't. Both were around the 200" mark. I was bowhunting a few days after they got out. Saw a deer walking down the fence line right toward me. Then I saw the rack and thought BOONER! He walked into range, turned his head and I saw the big white ear tag. BUZZKILL!

I called my buddy and told him his deer is standing 40 yards from me. He told me to shoot him. I could've, but I didn't. It just didn't feel right. The buck ended up bedding down, right there, 40 yards from me. I told my buddy to come over with his tranquilizer gun and see if he can capture him again. I talked him down the hill to within 30 yards of him and he was able to dart him. The buck went to sleep pretty quick, we loaded him in the trailer and put him back in the pen. We scored him while he was asleep. 196". I was guessing 170's when I saw him walking my way.

Which makes me think about a buck I missed back in 1996 in southern IL on public land. I shot over his back at 26 yards. I guessed him to be about 180". "Did I misjudge him? Was he really 200"?" It haunts me to this day!

I guess in my book its best to under score a book just incase you miss so you'll be a little easier on yourself lol Kind of like missing a big bass in fish you know it was huge but you meantly tell yourself it wasnt. But good story
