So I purchased a trail camera a a couple years ago from cabelas great camera with display etc. It is a Moultrie 990i but someway I locked myself out of the camera it has a five digit password well long story short I called moultrie and they said I would have to have proof of purchase and to my luck I can not for the life of me find the receipt to the camera. I know it pretty much defeats the purpose of security on these cameras if they just unlock them for anyone but I am no camera thief and It was by accident that I locked it. Is my camera a paper weight now or is there a solution.

good luck with Moultrie helping you. Is there a pin hole somewhere where you could reset the camera with a pin?

I think they should keep registered serial numbers. After buying you register the camera with name and address. If it is stolen you call them and report it stolen. Make it so you have to return the camera to do a reset. Once they get it do a quick check on stolen serial numbers and either reset and ship back or call rightful owner. To simple. You pay all shipping cost and a 10 buck fee for cost of work.

The security code is 5 digits. The security enables when the code is changed from the default 00000. I'm just guessing but if done accidentally, I would bet only the first digit got changed. You might get lucky, just go through the simple options changing the first digit, or just the last digit. Not sure which digit gets changed first by default

No reset button i called them and obviously they have a button sequence when pushed right allows for your camera to throw a reset code but even after doing that the representative I spoke with insured that there was a code of some sort In it I can not remember the code I was pretty much just tinkering with those settings and forgot to disable the password my mistake. I believe the reset code gives them and idea by letters what the code is unless these cameras are.some how linked to a network which I doubt.

What a relief well I finally figured it out after a week I am back in the game with my 990i I was somewhat upset with Moultrie but I completely understand why it's not a good idea just to reset cams for anybody. Great Company great cameras!!!!
