I'd like to know if anyone else passes time while on the stand using smartphone apps for the outdoors? I like to use bird and tree identification apps.

yes sir. I'm usually checking the weather or football scores though. Definately helps pass the time during the "dry spells"!

I may send a text or two, but I'm too busy looking for deer. They can be really hard to see when you are paying full attention. I don't want to be playing with my phone and miss my best opportunity of the season.

I watched 'Bama come back on Arkansas from the stand, today... wasn't much happening in the high winds we had.

I found myself passing time alot last year with my smartphone. I even took a few minutes of video of a doe that came within 15 yards of my stand. I'm gonna have to see if I can find one of those tree identifier apps for my phone.

No offense, but I go into the woods to hunt deer, not to mess with electronic devices that will likely lessen my chances of success. The deer woods get my undivided attention. I have to be aware of what's going on around me at ALL times. I hunt state land and these deer don't miss a trick!

I have been known to pull out my iPhone and play around on the apps a little, more so when I hunt longer hours or all day sits.

I know what you mean. I have a $300.00+ cell phone bill per month for 4 phones. That could be a truck payment...and I could use a newer truck.

My boss pays for my cell, so I'd just be paying the 30 dollar a month data fee, I still can't hack it.

Only thing I do is check the weather every couple of hours. And see if anybody else is having any luck.
