So I have hunted the last 3 weekends, and I have seen numerous Doe out of my stand, I draw my bow back everytime but I have yet to shoot one. I have a nice buck on my camera, I have yet to see him and I feel like I keep passing up these doe hoping that he show up.

Would you all pass up a doe time after time?

Let one rip and break the ice. Once you've gotten a doe you won't be tempted anymore. At this rate you're going through a lot of motion drawing on a doe when the buck could be watching you from a distance. Just pop one and get it over.

I would shoot one ASAP and get it out of the way.

That's what I've been debating since it's still early in the year. I guess I will take one. For some reason I never did like killing a doe because I couldn't hang it on the wall as a trophey.

I'm gonna have to. After seeing her 4 times in a row in stand within a 30 minute time frame. You all have talked me into it!

I would of tagged a doe by now before the rut kicks in about a month and you wont want to shoot a doe at all

Yep I'd let her walk every time, at least down in Ohio on our property where our doe numbers are way low. Up in Michigan....well that would just be silly talk!! :nana: :nana: :nana:

I've had 2 sits and passed on 4 does, all w/in 20 yds. 2 of them had fawns, 2 of them are yearling siblings hanging on the same penninsula they were last year. I was tempted for one of the yearlings but I still have venison in the freezer and think of them as buck bait for now. In prior years w/ no meat in the freezer I would have taken one of them.

I still have meat in the freezer to and I would hate to see some of it go to waste. It is hard to get the old woman to fix it. LOL

I've been in several homes during my lifetime where a hunter has both sexes mounted. Of course that was when I was much younger and taxidermy was less costly.

I posted this same question two weeks ago on here and they talked me into shooting one... best choice I ever made built confidence I've been seeing bucks chasing since then and I got meat in the freezer...eating some for dinner tonight actually.

I always try to shoot a doe right away just to break the ice and make sure that I have meat for the freezer. My wife and I don't buy beef, we just kill enough deer every year instead. She would kill me if I didn't shoot some deer.

If you hunt just for trophies, you're kind of missing the point...

You can't eat mounts anyway, who cares if you get a mount? If you don't kill to eat them, then donate them.

If the buck is in the same area you are seeing the does, then hold off on the does. You have meat and there is no reason to contaminate the area with your scent messing with a doe you don't even need.
