Been first year taking gear up...have passed numerous small bucks and had one mature doe work through too quick but last night was first time I actually could have had the first chip shot of a deer on film. Before the small clip below thought the two biggest ones kept looking back like they had something following em...wasn't gonna risk them having a shooter (extremely dry year overall) behind em. Filming has become an addiction on top of hunting addiction already...you all suck because I blame you for adding it to me LOL!!!

Nice video, how far was she? I passed one last week myself, I had her around me for 20 minutes and she came in as close as 5 yards at one point. I figured I'd keep her for live bait during the rut. :)

Where they entered was 19-22 yards depending on line taken into alfalfa.

If I had a doe that size come that close I would have slung an arrow at her. Hunting for the fun and the meat, not a trophy.

If I wasn't hunting for fun I wouldn't be doing it. :tu:

Plenty of days left to put a doe in the freezer which I fully intend on doing.

No rush for me either, they're perfect live bait for the rut and it's still waaay early.

Does get a pass by me 99% of the time. Especially during the pre-rut and rut. Post rut, if I need some meat I'll take one but since I hunt a small property I try not to do anything that could mess up my chances for a mature buck.

That was the last night I decided I'd be willing to shoot one till after firearms season (well night before maybe...) as we lose this place during firearms so it is go time to hopefully shoot a buck asap...have a couple more places like this actually. Last night I was on a property we lose too but have never really given us buck chances so does are fair game there.

Small properties change plans immensely I AGREE! My New22 does are off limits till after bucks are tagged or last few hunts.

I’ve never been hunting where I have to take a trophy buck only...but I’d love to be there some day. Usually it’s first come, first cooked ;-)
    Good luck out there y’all.
