Good luck!!! Sometimes checking the cameras is better than opening presents on Christmas Morning!!!

Here is one of the bucks that has been a regular on my camera all season. He's tempting but I'm thinking he is only 2.5. WGI_0171.jpg

Well guys, went to check my cameras today and all I had was does, spikes, turkey and a black bear. Not one darn shooter on camera. Hopefully the pre-rut/rut brings in some new meat.

Just keep those does happy and the shooters will come! The acorns are starting to drop here and the corn in the fields is getting mature. No more driving around and seeing bucks in bean fields during shooting hrs. Time to hunt the oaks!

Everything is finally done, all blinds brushed in, stands hung, safety harness straps and life lines too. All lanes trimmed and food plots planted. I will check cams 1 week before season on the 27th and decide where to hunt. 29 days and counting!

Man what a day! The day started out really good, I was doing some work in the backyard. I kicked off my shoes to go thru the house to the garage to grab a tool. I reached up on the shelf and when I did, a metal bar that was on the shelf fell and landed on my big toe. Son of a *****! Broke my toe in two places and lost half of my nail because the bone came up under the toe nail.

On a brighter note, went out to my property this afternoon after leaving the ER to glass the beans and ended up seeing two of my hitlist deer and about 4-5 does.

I may be down but I'm not out! Luckily I have a great hunting partner that will help me drag out the big boy when the time comes!

OUCH!!!! sorry to hear that Bear, I wish you a fast a speedy recovery. I will be checking cameras next weekend which will be a two week break from last time I checked them and got great pictures of numerous bucks. Like I stated before, early doe season is a two day hunt which falls on Sept 20,21 and the opener is Oct 1, so if you have good bucks on camera pretty much in all of your stand locations should I stay the heck out of the Back 188 and hunt Gramps for the early doe? The Back 188 is such better property it's kind of a bummer to have to do it, but hey if it increases my odds of shooting one of those deer opening week it's worth it.

Thanks sparrowhawk. If it were me, I'd hunt my does at gramps if you feel like you can get it done there. I have a stand that I know has at least 3 shooters bedded close, I definitely won't be shooting an early doe at that spot.

I am ready to draw some blood but I will be doing that on a goose first. Good luck to all the early hunters out there. We start up October 1st.

Went out and pull my cards over the weekend and pictures were down. I usually get about 400 pics per camera in a two week period, this time was down to around 100 on each camera. Food plots are looking much much better with the rain we got. Still getting my two big boys on the camera, but totally nocturnal still. I think the drop in number of pictures can test due to the fact that there are acorns falling all over the place. Just standing there is sounded like it was raining they were falling so much. Sure if they are hitting the ground, the deer are finding the feast and not moving where I have my cameras setup. Going to move one of them. Gives the food plots a little more time to mature, radishes get bigger while they are out pigging out on acorns!

10 days, 7 hours, 2 minutes and 43 seconds til season opens in MN!!!!!!

I can attest to the same here. Definitely less deer hitting the beans and we are seeing acorns too. Lol they'll be back to those fields soon enough. Time to hunt the oaks I guess. I'm sure those shooters will move in daylight when the rut gets here!
