He is a 4.5 or older deer. My own opinion is he will grow maybe another 5-8 inches next year after that he may get smaller. If your considering a shot, I wouldn't hesitate.
yeah, I'm usually better at scoring than aging (if only that held true in all things in life!) but I'd say he's an older deer and won't be gaining much if any more. No mass at all, short tines, but all that spread. Add his pot belly (very obvious in last pic) and I gotta say he's getting old. Take him, be proud of your first buck, and help the herd. All in all a winning scenario.
That's an old deer.......my experience he is on the down side. Starting to get one side (of the antlers) that look real good and the other side is so so......my guess is that deer is over 7. A deer that is at the 4.5-6.5 is at their prime which equals as big of rack as they are going to get. BTW I have taken deer from young up to 10.5...tooth aged.
